Pakistan Peoples Party Gains Support from Over 40 Dargahs and Monasteries Nationwide

Islamabad, In a notable political development, leaders of over 40 dargahs and monasteries across Pakistan have announced their support for the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) in the upcoming general elections.

According to Pakistan Peoples Party, this support was announced by various influential religious figures, including Sahibzada Pir Ehsan Danish Qadri Pir of Bhalwal Sharif, Pir Mahmood Ahmad Abbasi of Astana Aliya Jundi Sharif, and others. They collectively represent a significant segment of religious communities in Pakistan. The announcement was made at a press conference led by Syed Nayar Hussain Bukhari, alongside other prominent figures like Sardar Yaqub, Nazir Dhuki, and several Sajjada Nashins.

At the press conference, Bukhari highlighted the ongoing country-wide rallies led by former President Asif Ali Zardari and Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, expressing gratitude for the support from the devotees of these dargahs and monasteries. He emphasized the PPP’s commitment to safeguarding the end of Prophethood, a point of significant religious importance in Pakistan. The party’s efforts in making legislations that respect religious sentiments were also acknowledged.

Bukhari addressed various political issues, including the PPP’s invitation to PML-N for a debate on economic programs and the legal cases involving Imran Khan and Shah Mehmood Qureshi. He suggested that if the decisions in these cases were disputed, the concerned parties should seek redress in the high court.

Pir Mahmood Ahmad Abbasi expressed the political environment’s readiness to support the PPP, citing the party’s previous efforts to honor religious values and workers’ rights. He confirmed that Mashaikh would back Bilawal Bhutto Zardari in NA 127 and emphasized the importance of discussing matters related to Sufi teachings, religious and political harmony, and the protection of religious honor. He noted that Bilawal Bhutto Zardari agreed to enact legislation on these demands if successful in the elections.

This development indicates a significant boost for the PPP’s campaign, consolidating support from a broad spectrum of religious communities and leaders across Pakistan.
