DHAKA, The Pakistan and Bangladesh women’s cricket teams are poised to commence a three-match One Day International (ODI) series on November 4 at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka. The following games of the series will continue at the same venue on November 7 and 10. This series is a significant part of the ICC Women’s Championship 2022-25 and will be available for live streaming on the Bangladesh Cricket Board YouTube channel.
According to Pakistan Cricket Board, the ODI series is a critical phase of the ICC Women’s Championship 2022-25, with Pakistan currently standing sixth with six victories out of 12 matches, and Bangladesh holding the ninth spot with one win in nine games. In the global standings, Bangladesh is positioned eighth, while Pakistan holds the tenth rank. Historically, in their head-to-head record, each team has won six out of the 12 encounters against each other.
Pakistan’s Sidra Amin, who leads the ICC Women’s Championship batting rankings with 634 runs in 12 matches, including two centuries and three half-centuries, expressed her anticipation for the series. Sidra Amin is followed by the team’s former captain, Bismah Maroof, who is tied in fifth place on the leaderboard with 391 runs from 12 matches. The Pakistani squad also boasts strong bowling assets with leg-spinner Ghulam Fatima, left-arm spinner Nashra Sundhu, and captain Nida Dar all taking significant wickets during the Championship.
Sidra Amin, also the author of her first ODI century against Bangladesh during an ICC Women’s World Cup 2022 match in Hamilton, shared her thoughts prior to the series. Emphasizing the competitive nature of the Bangladeshi team, she remarked on the need for Pakistan to be at their best to win. She noted that every match in the ICC Women’s Championship holds importance, and with six points on the line in this series, the team is focused on performing well.
