Oman and Nepal Secure Spots in 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup

KIRTIPUR, Oman and Nepal have qualified for the 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup after securing victories in their respective matches against Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates.

According to International Cricket Council confirmed that Oman’s cricket team booked their third World Cup appearance following a dominant 10-wicket win over Bahrain at the TU Cricket Ground in Kirtipur. Bahrain, choosing to bat first after winning the toss, struggled to build momentum, losing 8 wickets for 77 runs by the 15.2 over mark. A modest effort by Ahmer Bin Nisar, who notched a 25-ball 26*, helped the team surpass the 100-run mark, ending their innings at 106/9. Oman’s Aqib Ilyas was declared Player of the Match for his outstanding 4-10 in 4 overs.

In a strong reply, Omani openers Kashyap Prajapati and Pratik Athavale achieved the target without any losses, ending the match at 109/0 in just 14.2 overs. Prajapati’s 57 off 44 and Athavale’s 50 off 42 secured Oman’s smooth sailing to the World Cup.

Meanwhile, at the packed Mulpani Cricket Ground, Nepal celebrated their victory over the United Arab Emirates, earning their second World Cup entry. Nepal’s bowlers held the UAE to 134/9, with Nepali spinner Kushal Malla taking three wickets. A solid 68-run partnership between Aasif Sheikh and Rohit Paudel propelled Nepal to a win at 135/2 in 17.1 overs, with Sheikh earning the Player of the Match title for his pivotal 64 not out.
