ICC Men’s T20 World Cup groups announced

Lahore, July 16, 2021 (PPI-OT):The International Cricket Council (ICC) today announced the groups for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 to be hosted by the BCCI in Oman and the United Arab Emirates from 17 October to 14 November.

The groups, selected on the basis of team rankings as of 20 March 2021, see defending champions the West Indies pooled along with former champions England, Australia and South Africa in Group 1 of the Super 12s, with two qualifiers from Round 1 joining them.

Group 2 will comprise former champions India and Pakistan, New Zealand, Afghanistan and the other two qualifiers from Round 1. Eight teams will contest the first round including automatic qualifiers Sri Lanka and Bangladesh with the remaining six who booked their spot through the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Qualifier 2019. Ireland, Netherlands and Namibia join Sri Lanka in Group A, whilst Oman, PNG and Scotland will face Bangladesh in Group B.

ICC Acting Chief Executive Geoff Allardice: “We are delighted to announce the groups for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021. There are some great match ups offered by the groups and it starts to bring the event to life for our fans as our first multi-team event since the onset of the global pandemic draws closer.

“Given the disruption caused by COVID-19, we selected the cutoff date as close as possible to the event to ensure we were able to include the maximum amount of cricket in the rankings which determine the groups. There is no doubt we will witness some highly competitive cricket when the event gets underway in just three months.”

The venues for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 are Dubai International Stadium, the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, the Sharjah Stadium, and the Oman Cricket Academy Ground.”

The tournament schedule will be announced in due course.

The groupings:

Round 1

Group A: Sri Lanka, Ireland, the Netherlands and Namibia

Group B: Bangladesh, Scotland, Papua New Guinea and Oman

Super 12s

Group 1: England, Australia, South Africa, West Indies, A1 and B2.

Group 2: India, Pakistan, New Zealand, Afghanistan, A2 and B1.

Majority 53% Pakistanis believe that the recently passed Annual Federal and Provincial budget will not create any ease or offer very little relief to the common man: Gallup and Gilani Pakistan

Islamabad, July 16, 2021 (PPI-OT):According to a survey conducted by Gallup and Gilani Pakistan, 37% of Pakistanis believe that recently passed budget will not at all create ease for the common man, with another 16% are very less hopeful on this issue, resulting in a majority 53% who are skeptical about recently passed budget and its ability to offer relief to Pakistanis.

A nationally representative sample of adult men and women from across the four provinces was asked the following question, “To what extent do you think the current budget will create ease for the common man?” In response to this question, 5% said very much, 17% said somewhat, 16% said very less, 37% said not at all, while 21% did not know. 4% did not respond.

’’دونوں اطراف عالمی ماحولیات کی بحالی کےلیے باہمی طور پر کام کرنے کے لیے پر جوش ہیں۔یہاں تک کہ،چین اور یورپی یونین نے ماحولیاتی تبدیلی پر پیرس معاہدے پر باہمی عملدرآمد کے لیے رضامندی ظاہر کی ہے۔‘‘

یورپی یونین کی چین کے ساتھ اختراعات پر  شراکت میں زیادہ زور 2020کے سٹرٹیجک ایجنڈا میں آیا،2013 میں ایک ایسا معاہدہ جس کے تحت دونوں شراکت داروں نے مختلف حکمت عملیوں میں اتفااق عمل میں لایا۔

ڈاکٹر فنالس کا کہنا ہے ’’یورپی یونین-چین کی سٹرٹیجک شراکت داری کے تناظر میں،یورپی یونین کےسرمایے سے چلنے والے تحقیق،اختراعات اور سائنسی ترقی کے منصوبے پہلے سے موجود ہیں۔‘‘

’’میرا خیا ل ہے کہ یورپی یونین اور چین باہمی طور پر کام کرتے ہیں گے اور ماحولیاتی تبدیلی جیسے مسائل کے لیے اختراعی حل نکالیں گے اور مزید کئی میدانوں میں،جیسے کہ تعلیم،اور COVID-19 کی وبائ کی وجہ سے موجود صحت  عامہ کے مسائل کے لیے  باہمی تعاون کی راہ نکالیں گے۔‘‘

اس پریزنٹیشن میں،ڈاکٹر فنالس  یورپی یونین کی تجارت اور صنعتی پالیسی،تحقیق اور اختراعات پر سرمایہ کاری اور یورپی یونین-چین کی دیگر اہم مقامات پر شراکت   پر بھی بات کریں گے۔

چین اور یورپی یونین نے گزشتہ سالوں میں نتیجہ خیز شراکت کی ہے،جس میں غذا اور زراعتی مصنوعات،پانی کے انتظامات،صحت،تعلیم،آفات سے بچاوٗ،ماحولیاتی تبدیلی اور ماحولیاتی تحفظ پر زیادہ توجہ دی گئی ہے۔

اب،موسمیاتی اور ماحولیاتی حکمت عملی سب سے آگے آئے گی جیسے کہ یورپی یونین کے 14جولائی کو اس کے بنیادی ’’فٹ فار 55‘‘منصوبے کا اعلان ہے تاکہ گرین ہاوٗس گیس کا اخراج کم سے کم کیاجائے۔یورپی یونین کی ایگزیکٹیو باڈی ،یورپی کمیشن کی جانب سے جاری کردہ اس منصوبے کی ،تفصیل یہ ہے کہ کس طرح 27یورپی ممالک ایک مشترکہ مقصد پر متفق ہوکر گرین ہاوٗس گیس کے اخراج کو 2030تک 1990کی سطح سے 55% تک کم کریں گے۔اور اس کا حتمی مقصد 2050تک اس اخراج کو صفر تک لاناہے۔

3 in 10 Pakistanis consider the 2021-22 budget to be ‘a bad budget’, while almost a quarter say they have no views on the budget showing indifference, and only 14% rate budget positively: Gallup and Gilani Pakistan

Islamabad, July 15, 2021 (PPI-OT):According to a survey conducted by Gallup and Gilani Pakistan, 3 in 10 Pakistanis consider the 2021-22 budgets to be ‘a bad budget’, almost a quarter say they have no views on the budget showing indifference, while only 14% rate budget positively. A nationally representative sample of adult men and women from across the four provinces was asked the following question, “The 2021-2022 budgets were presented recently.

Overall, do you think the budget is good, bad, or neither good or bad?” In response to this question, 14% considered it good, 30% considered it bad, while 25% considered it neither good nor bad. 27% did not know and 4% did not respond. UVAS syndicate approves Rs.2.968 billion budget

Lahore, July 15, 2021 (PPI-OT):The Syndicate of University of Veterinary and Animal Science Lahore approved Rs.2.968 billion budget for the financial year 2021-22 with focus on innovation, applied research, development, improving facilities for quality of education, services and transfer of technology. Chairing the 66 th Syndicate meeting, Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad said that focus is on applied research and development projects for further improving the quality of education, research and services at the university. The value of the ongoing 88 research projects is Rs.1.082 billion.

Prof Nasim Ahmad told the meeting that Rs.713.299 million have been allocated for development projects. Of the total development allocation, Rs 428.299 million will be spent on ongoing projects while Rs.285 million on new projects to be initiated in the financial year 2021- 22. The Vice Chancellor said that Rs.200 million have been allocated for new project “Establishment of UVAS Sub-Campus at Chichawatni”, Rs.50 million for new project “Strengthening of Capacity Building Facilities at Para Veterinary Institute, Karor Lal Eason Layyah”, Rs.78.3 million for new project establishment of girls and boys hostels in university and Rs.35 million also allocated for new Project “Capacity Building of Dairy Farmers and Industry Stakeholders on Milk Value Chain”.

Among the ongoing projects, the Vice-Chancellor said that Rs.350 million have been allocated for “Enhancement of Research Facilities at UVAS Ravi Campus Pattoki”, Rs.78.299 million for “Provision of Urgently Needed Male and Female Hostel Facilities at University of Veterinary and amp; Animal Sciences”. Earlier, presenting the budget before the Syndicate, Treasurer Mr Muhammad Umar said that the university expects non-development income of Rs.2.064 billion from different sources during the year 2021-22 while non-development expenditure is expected at Rs.2.254 billion, so there is a deficit of Rs.190.357 million.

The Vice-Chancellor said that Rs.1.133 billion are expected to be generated by the university from its own sources. About the deficit, he said the university will try to meet the budget deficit by generating more income from its own resources, by increasing its research-based products and diagnostic and clinical services for stakeholders. Special austerity measures will also be adopted to limit the recurring expenditure within available funds, he added.

Earlier, the Vice-Chancellor briefed the syndicate members on various academic, research training programmes, virtual trainings, online seminars/webinars, UVAS in collaboration with Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) conducted hands on training of “Dog Castration Surgery” for the control of stray dog population to curb rabies, free Covid-19 vaccination desk set up at UVAS for staff, memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the promotion of education and amp.

Research with different institutions and livestock, poultry and dairy industries for the internships of students to learn about practical experience/innovative knowledge and university development projects, etc. VC also mentioned UVAS BSL-3 providing COVID-19 free testing services and has tested more than 280,000 throughout pandemic. Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad also lauded the role of budget staff of the UVAS Treasurer’s Office for preparing the budget.
