Muhammad Arslan Shahid grabs Outstanding Award, secures Local Activity Funding

Lahore, May 17, 2022 (PPI-OT):All the accolades are for Engr. Muhammad Arslan Shahid (Lecturer, Department of Electrical Engineering, UOL, Member Executive Committee, IEEE, Lahore Section) for his back-to-back achievements as he grabbed the Outstanding Young Professional Leadership Award and got his hands on the Local Activity Funding last month.

He bagged the Outstanding Young Professional Leadership Award at Pakistan’s biggest IEEE Congress titled “14th IEEE Pakistan Student/YP/WIE/SIGHT Congress PSYWSC 2022”. The two-day congress was organized by the IEEE Lahore section and Faisalabad sub-section on February 26-27, 2022 at the Royalton Hotel, Faisalabad, and out-rightly sponsored by FAST NUCES.

The congress was marked by elucidatory talks by active professionals belonging to different organizations. It provided a chance for students, professionals, industrialists, and volunteers from all across Pakistan to meet distinguished experts, eminent engineers, and deserving innovators to improve their technical and non-technical skills.

Around 11 students from the Department of Electrical Engineering, UOL, along with Engr. Shahid, attended the congress that hosted 1200+ participants from 70 different cities and 30+ different universities all across Pakistan. IEEE PSYWSC acknowledged Engr. Shahid’s efforts by presenting him with the Outstanding Young Professional Leadership Award. He dignifiedly received the award from Prof. Dr. Yasar Ayaz (Chairman NCAI).

Apart from receiving the award, Engr. Shahid added another feather in his cap by getting funding worth US $692 from the IEEE Young Professionals under the category of Local Activity. This funding increases volunteer engagement and satisfaction by providing support for local volunteers to deliver engaging events and activities for IEEE Young Professional members.

Following the approval, Engr. Shahid initiated the Professional Development series of seminars and workshops for students as well as professionals. This series will be organized at the University of Lahore by IEEE UOL Student Branch (SB) in collaboration with the Department of Electrical Engineering, (UOL).

The first seminar of the series will be held on May 18, 2022 with the title “Modern Trends to Regulate the Output Frequency through Power Electronic Converters,” which will prove useful for students and young researchers to get familiarized with the development of the single-phase frequency controller. In a nutshell, the winning of the award and the approval of funding for local activity highlighted Engr. Shahid’s tireless commitment to volunteering for IEEE and the IEEE Lahore Section.
