Ms Jannat Ali an MBA Gold Medallist Trans Woman Joins UMT as a Lecturer 

Lahore, July 04, 2022 (PPI-OT):The appointment of Ms Jannat Ali as a transgender lecturer at the University of Management and Technology (UMT) has contributed to diversity and inclusion in the Higher Education sector of Pakistan. This appointment is a strong testament to the fact that Trans genders, with appropriate education and enlightenment, can contribute as effective community members of society, just like any other individual.

Ms Jannat Ali is an MBA Gold Medallist Trans woman with a performing arts research degree. She is the first transgender Activist (Artist and Activist) and Executive Director of the Track-T volunteer organization working for advocacy of Tran’s rights and capacity building.

She has successfully run a literacy program as an educator and consultant regarding the basic education of transgender people by mobilizing and motivating the community members. She has conducted lectures and workshops in Denmark and has sensitized 400 students and teachers on gender diversity, norms and performing arts. She was one of the key people who presented the bill which is now known as Transgender Rights Law 2018.

Ms Jannat’s appointment at UMT will contribute to an inclusive educational setting that can be emulated by other educational institutions. It will certainly contribute to the lifelong learning and critical thinking of the graduates and present them with unique narratives that will prepare them for the rigors of a globally interconnected world.
