Karachi, Amidst escalating street crime and violence, Abdul Hakeem Quaid, Vice Chairman of the Pasban Democratic Party, has voiced a strong critique of the current law and order situation in Karachi. He highlighted a disturbing trend of citizens being targeted by robbers, with some victims being shot dead upon resistance, while others are left in dire straits after being robbed of their savings or valuables.
According to Pasban Democratic Party, Quaid lamented the inaction and apathy of the government and law enforcement agencies towards the plight of Karachi’s residents. He criticized the Sindh Home Minister’s focus on maintaining peace and VIP protocols rather than addressing the root causes of violence and crime in the city. Quaid pointed to the long-standing governance of the People’s Party in Sindh, under which the security situation has steadily deteriorated, leaving citizens at the mercy of criminals.
The statement issued by Quaid underscored the need for immediate and decisive action to curb the rampant street crimes that have left the public in fear for their lives and security. He called for the implementation of the Safe City Project, stricter law enforcement measures, and the arrest of criminal elements, including negligent officers.
Quaid further suggested that Karachi should be granted constitutional status as a charter city to ensure the rule of law and meritocracy. He also indicated the necessity of a Rangers-led operation to restore order and safety in Karachi, critiquing the law enforcement’s current stance as passive and ineffective against the wave of robberies and violence.
This plea for government and law enforcement to wake up to the realities of the crisis in Karachi underscores the urgent need for reforms and actions to protect the citizens and their properties in Pakistan’s largest city.
