Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Leaders Call for Reforms in NADRA and Passport Services in Balochistan

Quetta, Leaders of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Ideological Balochistan have issued a call to the Interior Minister to address the inefficiencies and challenges faced by citizens in NADRA and passport offices across the province. They highlighted the undue burdens on residents, including lengthy waits, bureaucratic hurdles, and corruption, which complicate the process of obtaining vital documents.

According to Jamiat Ulema Islam, the party leaders, including Maulana Abdul Qadir Loni, Maulana Hafiz Abdul Ahad Kabdani, and others, detailed the problems during a press release. They pointed out that a single NADRA and passport office serves districts with populations in the millions, leading to extensive queues and significant delays. The leaders criticized the system for being susceptible to corrupt practices by agents who exploit the inefficiencies for bribes.

The Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam representatives proposed several reforms to improve the situation. They suggested the implementation of an active online system for ID cards and passports to reduce the need for physical visits to the offices. They also called for the establishment of additional committees to expedite the verification of blocked national identity cards and suggested a one-week timeframe for this verification process.

The leaders expressed particular concern about the plight of the elderly and women, who they said face humiliation due to the protracted and often opaque procedures. They urged the Home Minister to intervene directly to alleviate the hardships faced by the populace and to restore blocked identity cards swiftly, keeping in view the local challenges and the dignity of the affected individuals.
