Islamabad, The Governor of Gilgit-Baltistan, Syed Mehdi Shah, and the Chief Minister, Gul Bar Khan, met with President Asif Ali Zardari at Aiwan-e-Sadr to discuss ongoing development projects and regional challenges. The leadership of Gilgit-Baltistan presented updates and sought further support in addressing critical issues like education, health, and unemployment in their region.
According to Pakistan Peoples Party, the discussions highlighted significant opportunities for exploiting natural resources and hydroelectric potential in Gilgit-Baltistan. President Zardari emphasized the importance of mining, gem extraction, and energy production as means to achieve economic growth. He advocated for increased infrastructure development, particularly in education and healthcare, to elevate the region’s standard of living.
The meeting also focused on strategies to foster local entrepreneurship and ensure sustainable development through skill development programs tailored for Gilgit-Baltistan’s youth. President Zardari called for swift actions to enhance local capacities and ensure that the area’s potential is fully utilized for the benefit of its residents.
