Jamaat-e-Islami’s Hafiz Naeemur Rahman Calls for Democratic Reforms and Land Redistribution

Islamabad, At a significant public reception in Islamabad, Hafiz Naeemur Rahman, the Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami, delivered a robust speech criticizing the current political landscape, emphasizing the need for genuine democracy and announcing a major movement for land reforms.

According to Jamaat-E-Islami Pakistan, Rahman sharply critiqued politicians for their dependency on the establishment until they face challenges, at which point their sudden recall of democratic values becomes evident. He voiced support for recent statements by the judiciary advocating for transparency and accountability, urging the establishment to heed these calls. The Amir expressed concern over the inheritance of power by elites who historically benefited from colonial grants, accusing them of perpetuating a cycle of despair and disenchantment among the youth, and undermining faith in democracy.

Rahman announced plans for a significant movement advocating for land reforms aimed at dismantling the feudal and capitalist structures that, he argues, dominate the country’s socio-economic system. He positioned Jamaat-e-Islami as a true democratic force advocating for the rights of all societal segments, including youth, women, farmers, workers, and minorities.

The speech also touched upon the perceived failures of the judiciary and the issues plaguing the electoral system, particularly the controversies surrounding election forms and the allocation of reserved seats. Rahman criticized the caretaker government for its economic policies under the IMF’s influence, which he claimed exacerbated the financial burden on ordinary Pakistanis through increased inflation and taxes.

A large assembly of Jamaat-e-Islami workers and supporters, including prominent figures like Deputy Amir Mian Aslam, Secretary Information Qaiser Sharif, and others, attended the event. Rahman’s call to action stressed the readiness for peaceful resistance against what he described as a “fake government” and corrupt feudal lords, urging his followers to prepare for significant democratic advocacy.
