ISLAMABAD – 7 November 2023: A Smart Weather Station, equipped with advanced technology for hydrological research, was inaugurated at the Department of Civil Engineering of the Faculty of Engineering, International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) by the Pro-Chancellor, H.E. Professor Dr. Ahmad Salem Muhammad Al- Ameri.
According to International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), who also serves as the President of Imam Muhammad Ibn Saud Islamic University, presided over the opening of this facility, which includes eight sensors capable of measuring various environmental and hydrological parameters such as rainfall and vapour pressure. The station is expected to be a significant resource for both undergraduate and graduate students, providing them with accurate data to support their research and enabling them to predict future weather conditions with greater precision.
During the inauguration, Dr. Al-Ameri, along with IIUI President Dr. Hathal Homoud Alotaibi and other university officials, examined the new facility. The Pro-Chancellor expressed admiration for President Alotaibi’s vision and the faculty’s dedication to embracing technological advancements in educational research. Dr. Al-Ameri’s engagement with the project included inquiries about its potential applications at both micro and macro levels, underscoring the institution’s focus on practical and far-reaching research impacts.
