Islamabad, October 15, 2021 (PPI-OT):H.E. Dr. Hathal Homoud Alotaibi, President, International Islamic University (IIU) chaired the opening session of a workshop titled “improving teaching and learning at IIUI” organized here at the new campus by International Institute of Islamic Economics (IIIE).
Addressing the workshop, Worthy President emphasized upon adoption of the latest techniques and technology for teaching and learning. He also stressed for dedication from the side of faculty and administration to facilitate the students, adding that student centric approach is being adopted as students are the center of our efforts and intention.
IIUI President said that approval of the new strategic plan and its implementation shall be a start to the journey of change that is inevitable to make IIUI a profitable and most demanded educational institution. He has said that the university is striving to make an effective mechanism of teaching and learning as well as comprehensive work is going on to review curricula so that the university may shine among the leading universities of the world.
Calling upon faculty to focus on students’ learning and facilitation, he said that no stone shall be left unturned to ensure exquisite teaching and learning experience. He said that promotion of the faculty members is also part of the priority list of the management and there shall soon be a transparent and fair policy introduced in this regard to encourage the skilled, well-versed faculty.
IIU President hoped that the Deans and HoDs of the faculties shall be very keen to facilitate students and it shall be ensured that students may acquire quality education in an ideal learning environment. IIU President appreciated the interest of faculty in the workshop and said that it is a positive omen that IIIE is keen to make improvements as per university’s goals.
Speaking on the occasion, Professor Dr. N.B. Jumani, Vice President Administration and Finance said the workshop is a reflection of the vision of Worthy President that is all about effective teaching, preparation of new curricula and focus on academic excellence. He appreciated the eagerness of IIIE and hoped that this enthusiasm shall be followed by rest of the faculties. The Vice President said that it is also an opportunity for the faculty to interact with Worthy President and understand his vision.
Earlier, Professor Dr. Abdul Rashid Director General IIIE, apprised of the objectives and sessions of the workshop saying that the prime focus is to take steps to improve research and discuss the teaching practices. He informed that the faculty of IIIE has so far published 40 articles in the running year and it is focused to be transformed in the light of the newly approved strategic plan as per vision of IIU President. He also briefed that the faculty has started online courses and virtual merging in the light of the needs of the institute. The opening session of the workshop was also attended by Heads of the Departments of the institute along with senior faculty members.
