Mumbai , The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the match officials for the upcoming semifinals of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023. Rod Tucker will mark his 100th ODI as an umpire in the first semifinal between India and New Zealand in Mumbai, while Richard Kettleborough recently completed his 100th ODI during the current tournament and will officiate the second semifinal between Australia and South Africa in Kolkata.
According to International Cricket Council, the first semifinal in Mumbai will see Tucker and Richard Illingworth of England as the on-field umpires. Tucker, who officiated his first ODI in January 2009, will reach a significant career milestone in this crucial match. He will be accompanied by Joel Wilson as the third umpire, Adrian Holdstock as the fourth umpire, and Andy Pycroft as the match referee.
The second semifinal in Kolkata will be overseen by Kettleborough and Nitin Menon. Kettleborough, who achieved his century of ODIs when the Netherlands played Sri Lanka on October 21, will add to his tally in his third consecutive World Cup semifinal. The officiating team for this match will also include Chris Gaffaney as the third umpire, Michael Gough as the fourth umpire, and Javagal Srinath as the match referee.
The ICC also acknowledged another significant milestone with Ahsan Raza officiating his 50th ODI in the match between England and the Netherlands on November 8.
Sean Easey, ICC Manager of Umpires and Referees, congratulated the match officials for their high standard of performance throughout the tournament and acknowledged the significant achievements of Tucker and Kettleborough. He expressed his best wishes for the officials in the upcoming knockout matches.
