GIK Institute Announces PhD Defense on Optimizing Deep ConvNets

Topi, The Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology (GIK Institute) has scheduled the final defense of the PhD thesis by scholar Usman Haider, which focuses on advancing the efficiency of deep convolutional networks (ConvNets). The defense, titled “Sparse Data Representation for Computationally Optimized Deep ConvNets,” is set for June 11, 2024, at 2:30 p.m. in the FCSE Conference room.

According to Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology, Mr. Haider’s research under the supervision of Dr. Muhammad Hanif, with Dr. Ahmar Rashid and Prof. Dr. Syed Fawad Hussain as co-supervisors, explores innovative methodologies in data processing that could significantly enhance the computational efficiency of deep learning systems. This study is particularly relevant to fields requiring large-scale data analysis and real-time processing.

The defense is open to the public, reflecting the institute’s commitment to transparency and academic collaboration. It will be an opportunity for scholars and students from various disciplines to engage with cutting-edge research that has the potential to influence the future of technology and data science.
