Lahore, March 21, 2022 (PPI-OT): On January 17, 2022, the Center for Security, Strategy and Policy Research (CSSPR) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with SCOLAR Lahore Hub, with a view to working together on a host of projects aimed at empowering the youth.
SCOLAR Lahore Hub is part of the SCOLAR Network that works under the auspices of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). The MoU was signed by Dr. Rabia Akhtar (Director, CSSPR) and Mr. Shehryar Malik (Founding Curator, SCOLAR Lahore Hub). Both CSSPR and SCOLAR Lahore Hub explored areas where they could work together. CSSPR, with its focus on giving the youth many a platform to express themselves and interact with scholars and practitioners alike, will feed into SCOLAR’s commitment to creating environments for the youth to become the agent of change.
Both Dr. Akhtar and Mr. Malik agreed to organize a series of events in the year 2022 for capacity-building of students. Both also agreed that the stewardship of the SCO must be used to facilitate students to conduct research, engage in cross-cultural communication, and work towards establishing a tolerant community. They argued that youth-empowerment must be seen as a strategic end-goal, primarily because the youth comprises most of Pakistan’s population. One of the foci of this partnership will be to engage the youth in activities aimed at countering violent extremism and achieving the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
