Certificate Distribution Ceremony of Training program on “Project Development with Python and Android Application Development” 

Kotli, February 17, 2023 (PPI-OT):The Certificate Distribution Ceremony of Training program on “Project Development with Python and Android Application Development” was held at Video Conferencing Room of the University and was organized by the Directorate of Quality Enhancement Cell. Prof. Dr. Rehmat Ali Khan, Vice Chancellor presided over the ceremony and awarded the certificates to the trainees and participants.

Addressing the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Rehmat Ali Khan said we are committed in promoting innovation and entrepreneurial culture and are trying to foster an environment that provides students with problem-solving skills and opportunities to learn from technology.

Dr. Rehmat further added that such training initiatives should be continued frequently as they strengthen the skills and creative thinking among the students. He congratulated Prof. Dr. Ghulam Nabi, Dean Faculty of Computing and Engineering, Dr. Asif Khan, Director, Quality Enhancement Cell and Department of Software Engineering for organizing a successful training program in a befitting manner.
Other speakers included Dr. Ghulam Nabi and Dr. Khan Asif Khan, highlighted the aim, objectives, contents and commercial benefits of the training.

Talking about the progress in Artificial Intelligence, especially Amazon and Chat GPT, they emphasized that future is in AI if we do not make the young generation aware of the modern technology, then we will lose our epoch. Prof. Dr. Sabahat Akram, Dean Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Prof. Dr. Faheem Ghazanfar, Dean Faculty of Management Sciences, Dr. Muhammad Irshad, Dean Faculty of Basic and Applied Sciences and Dr. Iftikhar Hussain, Registrar of the University also attended the program.

WUM organizes anti-drug awareness seminar/walk

Mardan, February 17, 2023 (PPI-OT):A seminar and walk was organized by Women University Mardan to raise awareness among the students about the harms of drugs. Addressing the seminar, Ahmad Bin Tariq, Project Officer (DDR and PR) highlighted the importance of awareness among youth and students about the harm of using drugs, keeping in view the rising trend of young people of drugs in the country.

In her message on the occasion, Vice Chancellor of the university Professor Dr Ghazala Yasmeen said everyone should play an effective role, to eradicate drug abuse because it is harmful for all, especially the younger generation.

Meanwhile, a walk was also organized at Bakhshali Campus of the university during which participants carried banners inscribed with awareness messages, and chanted slogans against the use of drugs. Later, the CEO presented a certificate to Chief Proctor Dr Rashida Parveen and Campus Coordinator Pir Shakeel for organizing the successful event.

Prof. Dr. Rahmat Ali Khan chaired the online meeting of the Scholarship Management Committee 

Kotli, February 17, 2023 (PPI-OT):The Honourable Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Rahmat Ali Khan, chaired the online meeting with the Monitoring and Evaluation Department of the HEC. Apart from overall project progress and payment issues, the FDP component of the project was also discussed in detail, and it was decided that the final chance will be given to remaining selected candidates till March 31, 2023.

During the meeting Dr. Iftikhar Hussain, Registrar, Mr. Mubashir Ahsan, Project Director and Muhammad Yasir Anwar, from Monitoring and Evaluation Department HEC were in attendance.

UE holds Umrah Lucky Draw and MoU with Emerson University, Multan

Lahore, February 17, 2023 (PPI-OT):University of Education announced to send two of its employees for performing Umrah after a lucky draw held here at main Campus on February 17, 2023. Dr. Sara Azhar from Division of Management and Science and Muhammad Waqas from Financial Aid Office were declared lucky. According to the Umrah package policy, one lucky person will be selected from BS-01 to BS-15 and one from BS-16 to above and complete package of Umrah will be given to them. Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha (S.I.) congratulated to the lucky employees who selected for Umrah and said that of course attending Roza-e-Rasool (PBUH) and Khana Kaba is a great wish of any Muslim and to fulfill this desire, the University of Education sends its two employees to perform Umrah every year.

The Vice-Chancellor hoped that the employees who were declared lucky through lottery would pray for the betterment and development of not only themselves, the University but also for our beloved country. Meanwhile a memorandum of understanding (MoU) were signed between University of Education, Lahore and Emerson University, Multan at UE Main Campus on February 17, 2023.

The objective of the MoU is to create a strategic alliance and seamless linkage among the Parties in the areas of Learning and Development, Research, Innovation, Entrepreneurship and other avenues including Corporate Trainings, Cooperative educational program, Career Opportunities for Youth. Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha (S.I.) from University of Education, Lahore and Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ramzan from Emerson University, Multan signed the memorandum of understanding (MoU).

MBBS students don white coats, celebrate the beginning of medical studies at UMDC 

Faisalabad, February 17, 2023 (PPI-OT):First Year Students of 20th batch of MBBS get a warm welcome with White Coat ceremony at UMDC on February 13, 2023. It was a much-awaited moment and special occasion for the fresh entrants as their seniors and professors were there to welcome them into the College premises.

After donning their new white coats, presented by the second year students, they recited the Oath pledging allegiance to the medical profession, their companions, and seniors and urged to prioritize their duties towards their patients. During orientation and welcome program held in Ali Auditorium, Mr Muhammad Haider Amin, Chairman BoG in his address welcomed the first year students.

He assured the fresh entrants that our highly qualified faculty with state of the art infrastructure is doing their best to make their education adequate to modern healthcare achievements and give them the opportunity to become highly qualified and successful professionals. ‘We are committed to lead this institution to improve the healthcare through excellence in medical education, research activities and patients care in the region’, he added.

Prof Dr Aamir Ali Choudhry, Principal UMDC welcomed the new MBBS class and called upon them to render hard work for building a bright future. In his presentation he gave brief introduction of all the departments.

He said that the college accounted for its state of the art infrastructure and experienced faculty and staff. He urged the new comers to take full advantage of these opportunities for becoming successful medical professionals and serve the society. He emphasized the importance of the medical profession and made them understand their responsibilities.

NUST launches Climate Action Plan to mitigate impacts of climate change 

Islamabad, February 17, 2023 (PPI-OT):National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) organised first-ever Partnership for Climate Action (PCA-2023) conference in Pakistan from February 14 to 16, 2023. Themed around the topic “Science for Sustainability,” the conference was held in collaboration with Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), German Red Cross, Pakistan Red Crescent, International Federation of Red Cross, International Rescue Committee and Welt Hunger Hilfe.

The prime objective was to bring together and connect youth, academia and other stakeholders to build meaningful partnerships towards addressing climate change challenges. The conference also provided an opportunity for NUST to showcase its climate resilient technologies for potential deployment and commercialisation, and closely engage with stakeholders from the Government and Development Sector to accelerate progress towards a sustainable future.

In his welcome remarks, Dr Rizwan Riaz, NUST Pro-Rector Research, Innovation and Commercialisation said that the university takes its social responsibility seriously and has aligned all its core functions to the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Most significantly, he maintained, NUST has been proactively engaged in developing innovative technologies and devices to address the challenges of climate change. He also highlighted the importance of Partnership for Climate Action – a platform to share best practices, collaborate on new initiatives, and leverage collective resources to drive progress. He added that the NUST Climate Action Plan is an important step towards making a real impact.

The three-day event spanned across climate action policy simulation, youth activity, expert panel discussions, conference and exhibition, followed by the launch of Climate Action Plan and MoU signing. The Climate Action Plan formulated by NUST Research Directorate – entails strategy for reducing greenhouse gas emissions within and beyond university and mitigate the impact of climate change.

The two main panel talks on the second day provided information on national and international root causes of climate change, actions to overcome the challenges by promoting renewable energy, energy efficiency and sustainable transportation. The first panel discussion, moderated by Ms Anam Zeb of German Red Cross, focused on creating partnership for climate action, the importance of public awareness about the urgency of climate crisis and the actions needed to mitigate its effect. The panellists included Dr Imran Khalid, Director Policy and Governance WWF, Mr Ali Shah, Member NUST Climate Panel, and Ms Maheen Zahra, Oxford Policy Management Institute.

The second panel discussion, moderated by Ms Ameera Adil, NUST, focused on the role of academia in climate resilience and sustainable development, the importance of green land, establishing energy efficient measures, ensure net zero campus waste, and implementation of renewable energy generation plan. The panellists were Prof Dr Salman Atif, Member Climate Panel, IGIS NUST, Mr Waqar ul Shams, Innovation and Information Coordinator AnthroInsights, Prof Ilhan Niaz, KLF Award Winner, Chairman Dept. of History QAU and Dr Zainab Khalid, COMSATS Centre for Climate and Sustainability (CCCS).

The event concluded with the launch of NUST Integrated Climate Resilient Policy and Action Plan. Dr Hamood-ur-Rahman, Director Research, NUST and Ms Ameera Adil, AD Sustainability NUST, shed light on the plan that recognises climate change as a core issue for upcoming development, and devises remedial strategy to create a sustainable future for ourselves, communities and posterity alike.
