Asad Ali Memon Delivers a Talk at IoBM to Share His Remarkable Ascend to Mount Everest

Karachi, June 13, 2023 (PPI-OT): Asad Ali Memon, a student of IoBM and the first individual from Sindh to conquer Mount Everest was invited to deliver a captivating account of his remarkable journey to the highest mountain on Earth. The audience was enthralled by Asad’s trek and how he brought laurels for Pakistan and IoBM through his endeavor. Present on the occasion were IoBM’s Mr. Talib Karim, President; Dr. Tariq Soomro, Acting Rector; Dr. Shujaat Mubarik, Dean CBM; Brig. Dr. Muhammad Abbas, Associate Dean, CCSIS; Mr. Muhammad Misbahuddin, Head of Human Resources; Mr. Raza Abbas, HoD Incubation along with HoDs, management, faculty, and students. The Master of Ceremonies was Ms. Juveria Baig, HoD Internship and Placement Department. Hafiz Humayun Baig recited verses from the Holy Quran.

While delivering the Welcome Address, Mr. Talib Karim, President IoBM said that Asad’s achievement has brought honor to Pakistan and IoBM. “Such feats require courage, stamina, and an exercise regime.” He added that under the banner of Project Limitless, IoBM supported Asad’s journey. IoBM will continue to support and encourage its students in realizing their dreams.

Asad Ali Memon, during a captivating talk, explained the beginning of this mountaineering journey that began in 2016 when he attended a workshop in Islamabad. He became associated with mountaineers and began exploring what targets he could achieve. Over the last seven years, Asad has climbed the following mountains: Mingling Sar – Shimshal Pass, Pakistan; Koh-e-Watsur, Pakistan; Kala Pathar/EBC, Nepal, Elbrus (Europe), Aconcagua (South America), Kilimanjaro (Africa), and Denali (North America). On May 20, 2023, he became the first person from Sindh and only the tenth Pakistani to achieve this feat. He explained the treacherous path that he took from Kathmandu to Lukla to Base Camp, Camp 1, Camp 2, Camp 3, and Camp 4 and finally reaching the summit. He explained how he acclimatized his body and mind by trekking up and down the Base Camp before ascending to the summit. A question and answer session followed his talk when students inquired insights from Asad about his journey.
