Lahore, February 28, 2022 (PPI-OT):A delegation of journalists led by General Secretary PFUJ Rana Muhammad Azeem and President Lahore Press Club Azam Chaudhry called on Speaker Punjab Assembly Chaudhry Parvez Elahi in the Punjab Assembly. The delegation briefed Chaudhry Parvez Elahi about the activities of land mafia in Journalist Colony Lahore.
Congratulating the newly elected officials of PFUJ and Lahore Press Club, Ch Parvez Elahi appreciated the role of the journalist community in the struggle for freedom of expression. Ch Parvez Elahi assured the journalists that by passing the bill in the assembly, the land mafia from the journalist colony will be completely wiped out and the grant of the press club will be restored, the problems of the journalists will be solved on priority basis and effective action will be taken against the land mafia.
He further said that freedom of expression is a fundamental right of every citizen for which the journalist community has made many sacrifices, I hope that the newly elected officials of PFUJ and Press Club would use all their abilities to solve the problems facing the journalist community, and will meet the expectations of journalists.
Ch Parvez Elahi said that I have always stood by journalists against those who oppose freedom of expression, Insha-Allah, I will continue to be at the forefront of protecting freedom of the press. The delegation includes senior journalists Shahbaz Mian, Naeem Mustafa, Shiraz Hasnat, Nasira Atiq, Ashraf Majeed Vice President PFUJ, Marwa Ansar Chaudhry Vice President, Saima Chaudhry Vice President, Muhammad Farooq Johri, Rana Mazhar, Mian Nadeem Member FEC, Nabil Khokhar Member FEC while Secretary Punjab Assembly Muhammad Khan Bhatti and DG Parliamentary Affairs Punjab Assembly Inayatullah Lak were also present in the meeting.
