AI’s Philosophical Challenges Explored at University of Wah Lecture

Wah: The Office of Research, Innovation, and Commercialization (ORIC) at the University of Wah hosted a lecture titled "AI's Philosophical Challenges" as part of its Distinguished Lecture Series. The event focused on the societal implications of Artificial Intelligence and was attended by faculty members, researchers, and students.

According to University of Wah, the keynote was delivered by Prof. Dr. Pervez Hoodbhoy, who examined the transformation AI brings to various sectors such as decision-making, education, healthcare, communication, and research. Prof. Hoodbhoy addressed key challenges posed by AI, including data bias leading to unfair outcomes, the potential for machine consciousness, and the integration of ethical values into AI systems. He noted that while AI offers opportunities, it also raises concerns about human autonomy, critical thinking, misinformation, and ethical responsibility.

Prof. Dr. Shumaila Naz, Focal Person of the Distinguished Lecture Series, expressed gratitude to Prof. Hoodbhoy for his presentation and emphasized the importance of understanding AI's opportunities and philosophical implications within academia and research.
