Karachi: Following Pakistan's prominent role in facilitating the Iran-US ceasefire, Pasban Democratic Party Chairman Altaf Shakoor has called on the government to channel the same determination towards economic recovery. According to Pasban Democratic Party, Shakoor emphasized the need for bold economic reforms and trade-driven partnerships to ensure sustainable national strength.
Addressing Pasban officials during a weekly meeting, Shakoor lauded the efforts of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir in elevating Pakistan's status as a global peacemaker. He noted that the diplomatic success should now be leveraged to address Pakistan's economic challenges through strategic reforms and business-friendly policies.
Shakoor highlighted the significance of high-level visits by Pakistani leaders to Saudi Arabia and Iran, indicating Pakistan's potential to lead both globally and within the Muslim world. He cautioned against India's alleged hostility, suggesting it has led India to a dead end, while Pakistan should focus on economic opportunities post-conflict.
He proposed forming a team of top economic experts and experienced businessmen to capitalize on growth opportunities and emphasized the need for Pakistan to improve its port facilities to international standards. Shakoor urged friendly nations to be informed of Pakistan's challenges and advocated for trade-focused discussions rather than seeking aid. He also suggested forming employment agreements for Pakistani skilled workers in Arab countries to boost remittances.
Furthermore, Shakoor advised caution in using the defense agreement with Saudi Arabia, noting that the repayment of Dubai's dues through a Saudi loan was significant. He praised Pakistan's balanced foreign policy and recognition from Iran, Saudi Arabia, China, and Russia.
Shakoor stated that Pakistan is maintaining high-level contact with all countries affected by the conflict and that despite Israel's attempts to disrupt peace efforts, it remains isolated. He reaffirmed Pakistan's commitment to establishing permanent peace in regions like Beirut and Gaza, while emphasizing fraternal relations with Iran and Saudi Arabia, underscored by the Chief of Army Staff's recent visit to Tehran.
