Pakistan, Saudi Arabia Ink Historic Mutual Defense Pact

Islamabad: Pasban Democratic Party (PDP) Chairman Altaf Shakoor lauded the newly signed Strategic Mutual Defence Agreement (SMDA) between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, calling for increased defense collaboration among Arab and Muslim nations.

Shakoor emphasized Pakistan’s robust defense capabilities, stating its role in safeguarding Saudi Arabia is a source of national pride. He believes this agreement will create opportunities for Pakistani workers and professionals in the Gulf, boosting the national economy.

He described Pakistan and Saudi Arabia as two nations with a shared bond, suggesting Gulf countries should prioritize collaboration with Muslim nations, particularly Pakistan, for their defense needs.

Shakoor highlighted the spiritual connection Pakistanis feel towards Saudi Arabia, viewing defense cooperation as both a duty and a religious obligation. He believes Pakistan is equipped to offer similar defense services to other Arab and Muslim countries.

He predicted Pakistan will soon surpass India’s influence in the Gulf’s service sector, emphasizing the natural alliance between Pakistan and Gulf nations. He commended the leadership of both countries for the agreement.

Shakoor urged Gulf countries to welcome Pakistani workers, fostering mutual growth and prosperity. He expressed hope that this defense accord will pave the way for broader collaborations among Muslim nations in various sectors.
