Dubai, On the eve of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, international cricket stars from Pakistan, West Indies, and England have made significant advances in the latest ICC Men’s T20I Player Rankings.
According to International Cricket Council, the final rankings update before the World Cup shows notable improvements for several players despite challenges such as inclement weather affecting parts of England’s home series against Pakistan. England captain Jos Buttler climbed to seventh in the rankings for T20I batters, thanks to an impressive 84-run inning in Birmingham. His teammate Jonny Bairstow also moved up eight spots to 36th after scoring 21 in the same match.
For Pakistan, Fakhar Zaman’s rapid 45 from 21 deliveries against England boosted his position by six places to 51st among T20I batters. Meanwhile, the West Indies trio of Brandon King, Johnson Charles, and Kyle Mayers made substantial leaps in their rankings following a series sweep over South Africa, with King moving up five spots to eighth, Charles climbing 17 places to 20th, and Mayers advancing 12 places to 31st.
In bowling rankings, West Indies’ Gudakesh Motie saw a dramatic rise, jumping from outside the top 100 to 27th after being named Player of the Series against South Africa. England’s Reece Topley and Pakistan’s Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf, and Imad Wasim also saw improvements in their rankings, underscoring their recent successful performances.
As the T20 World Cup commences in the West Indies and the USA, India’s Suryakumar Yadav holds the top spot as the No.1 ranked T20I batter, while England’s Adil Rashid starts the tournament as the No.1 ranked T20I bowler.
