Murree Hosts Inaugural Punjab Music Competition

Murree, The first Punjab Music Competition was successfully held in Murree, organized by the Punjab Arts Council. The event saw participation from over 100 young talents aged between 14 to 30 from across the district, celebrating a vibrant showcase of local musical skills.

According to Punjab Arts Council, the competition culminated in an awards ceremony attended by notable figures including the Assistant Commissioner of Murree, Captain (R) Abdul Wahab, who served as the chief guest. Directors Sajjad Hussain, Anam Khalid, Muhammad Ashraf, Muhammad Suleman, and Ahmed Raza also graced the event. The chief guest praised the enthusiastic involvement of the Murree community and acknowledged the support of educational institutions and parents in fostering a rich cultural participation among the youth.

Director Sajjad Hussain highlighted the council’s commitment to preserving classical music through such events, noting the role of local families in keeping the art form thriving in Punjab. The winners of the competition, Qurat-ul-Ain Shehzad, Sawera, and Safiullah, received prizes of 20,000, 15,000, and 10,000 rupees respectively. The event is a precursor to a divisional competition set for May 30, which will feature district-level winners from Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal, Murree, and Rawalpindi at the Arts Council.
