Jamshoro, A one-day workshop aimed at improving the research capabilities of MPhil scholars in the Chemistry Department was held at the University of Sindh. The workshop, focusing on research methodology and thesis preparation, was directed at students who completed their coursework, equipping them with essential skills for producing high-quality theses.
According to University of Sindh, the event was organized at the Dr. MA Qazi Institute of Chemistry and featured training from top researchers and professors in Analytical, Organic, Inorganic, and Physical Chemistry. Professors such as Dr. Tufail Hussain Shirazi, Dr. Irfana Begum Malah, and others delivered comprehensive sessions on research proposal preparation and thesis crafting, aimed at addressing the needs of the 23rd batch of MPhil scholars.
Vice Chancellor Muhammad Siddique Kalhoro, who addressed the closing ceremony, emphasized the significance of the workshop, stating that it was initiated following observations from the Advanced Studies and Research Board regarding the need for improved thesis quality. He highlighted the importance of local educational opportunities which allow students to pursue advanced degrees affordably and contribute to the nation’s academic and professional landscapes.
Dr. Kalhoro also discussed future plans for the university, including the establishment of specialized laboratories and the importance of commercializing academic patents for the financial benefit of scholars and the institution. He urged other departments within the university to host similar workshops to ensure that all scholars are well-prepared for their research endeavors.
The workshop concluded with the distribution of certificates to participants and the presentation of commemorative shields to the resource persons. Notable attendees included Dr. Abdul Qadir Panhour and Dr. Humira Khan, among others, demonstrating the university’s commitment to fostering an environment conducive to scholarly excellence.
