Haripur, The University of Haripur announced plans to re-establish the Qatil Shafai International Literary Society Book Corner and Museum, celebrating the legacy of the esteemed poet Qatil Shafai. This initiative aims to preserve and enhance the understanding of Urdu and Pashto literature and culture, enriching the academic environment of the university.
According to The University of Haripur, the decision was reached during a meeting between the university’s Vice Chancellor, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, and the poet Javed Iqbal Afgar. The discussions focused on promoting literary and cultural activities at the university, along with enhancing the Qatil Shafai International Literary Society and the Ghazali Suntar Library.
The plans include forming an interim cabinet for the Literary Society, publishing the late Qatil Shafai’s letters in book form, and enriching the university’s Central Library with a collection of Urdu and Pashto literary and academic books. Additionally, the proposed Qatil Shafai Book Corner and Museum will be equipped with modern technology and facilities to serve as a resource for students, scholars, and literary enthusiasts.
Vice Chancellor Dr. Shafiq-ur-Rehman expressed his commitment to this cultural endeavor, stating, “We are committed to honoring the legacy of Qatil Shafai and promoting literary endeavors at our university. The Qatil Shafai International Literary Society Book Corner and Museum will serve as a hub for literary enthusiasts and researchers alike.”
