LUMS and Pak-UK Business Council Forge Ties to Boost Academia-Industry Synergy

Karachi, The Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) delegation recently met with the Pak-UK Business Council of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) in Karachi to discuss strengthening academia-industry collaboration, aiming to spur innovation and economic development in Pakistan.

According to Lahore University of Management Sciences, the meeting included prominent business leaders from Karachi and members of FPCCI. The engagement emphasized the shared goal of leveraging academic research and industry resources to tackle Pakistan’s critical challenges, including energy, climate change, and economic innovation.

Dr. Ali Cheema, Vice Chancellor of LUMS, stressed the university’s role in uniting different sectors to address these pivotal issues. The dialogue with business leaders like Mr. Saquib Fayyaz Magoon, Senior Vice President of FPCCI, highlighted the urgent need for academia and industry to work together to translate research into practical industry applications, enhance foreign exchange earnings, and improve the local workforce’s skills.

Ms. Nuzhat Kamran, Director of the Office of Advancement at LUMS, reiterated the university’s commitment to creating effective linkages with the business sector to narrow the gap between academic research and industry needs.
