Rawalpindi, A landmark partnership between the National University of Medical Sciences (NUMS), Rawalpindi, and The Diabetes Centre (TDC), Islamabad, was established on March 8, 2024, marked by the signing of a Document of Understanding (DoU). This collaboration is set to revolutionize healthcare research, particularly in diabetes care, by integrating clinical trials, research projects, and advanced training programs.
According to National University of Medical Sciences, the DoU aims to foster a symbiotic relationship between NUMS and TDC, focusing on joint initiatives like conducting clinical trials, generating internship opportunities, collaborating on commercializable research, and advancing diagnostic and wound healing techniques. The agreement also includes plans for mutual grant applications to fund innovative projects, hosting seminars and conferences on diabetes management, and conducting capacity-building sessions on cutting-edge diagnostic methods.
Maj. General Farrukh Saeed HI(M) (Retd), Pro Vice-Chancellor (Academics) of NUMS, and Mr. Meesaq Arif, CEO of TDC, signed the agreement, underscoring their institutions’ commitment to enhancing healthcare practices through shared knowledge and resources. This partnership promises to make significant strides in medical research and training, aiming to set new benchmarks in healthcare standards locally and internationally.
