Pakistan Red Crescent Pledges Support for Gaza, Meets Palestinian Ambassador

Islamabad, Sardar Shahid Ahmed Laghari, the Chairman of the Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS), met with Palestinian Ambassador Ahmed Jawad Rabei at the Palestinian Embassy in Islamabad to discuss the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. The meeting focused on the dire situation in the region, with discussions about the losses in lives and property due to ongoing conflicts.

According to Pakistan Red Crescent Society, Ambassador Rabei briefed Chairman Laghari on the severe humanitarian conditions in Gaza, underscoring the critical need for essentials like water, food, and medical supplies. Responding to the urgent requirements, Chairman Laghari committed the PRCS’s support to Gaza, announcing significant aid initiatives.

The PRCS, in collaboration with the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), plans to dispatch 4,500 first aid kits, 3,500 hygiene kits, and 3,500 dignity kits to Gaza. Additionally, a shipment of medicines will be sent through the NDMA. Chairman Laghari informed that for individuals interested in contributing to the relief efforts, cash donations could be made to specified accounts in Askari Bank G-8 Markaz Islamabad and Alfalah Bank. He also provided contact details for inquiries related to medical donations.

In a show of solidarity with the people of Gaza, the Pakistan Red Crescent announced a contribution of $100,000 to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. This donation is earmarked specifically for aiding Palestinian people. Ambassador Rabei expressed his gratitude for the support and acknowledged the significant role played by the Red Crescent Pakistan both nationally and internationally.

The meeting, which also saw the presence of PRCS Secretary General Muhammad Abaidullah Khan, concluded with Chairman Laghari sharing his thoughts in a commemorative book at the Embassy.
