Lahore, June 22, 2023 (PPI-OT): Federal Minister of Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Prof Ahsan Iqbal inaugurated newly-established academic block, Prof Dr Manzoor Clinical Sciences Block, Iqbal Hall and Fatima Hall (hostels) for boys and girls at the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore’s sub-campus Khan Bahadur Chaudhary Mushtaq Ahmad College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Narowal. Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Nasim Ahmed, former UVAS Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Manzoor Ahmed, Principle KBCMA-CVAS Prof Dr Rana Muhammad Younus, former MPAs Mr Rana Abdul Mannan, Mr Akber Ali Khan and Ramesh Singh Arora and a large number of public from civil society, faculty members, students and farmers attended the ceremony.

Meanwhile, Prof Ahsan Iqbal also performed ground-breaking of the project “Strengthening KBCMA-CVAS Narowal” and under this project an administrative block, a multipurpose complex, sports complex, university diagnostic lab, pet hospital, foreign faculty and boys hostel, resident colony, day-care centre, medical centre, cafeteria and tuck shops, small animal training and research centre, bio waste unit and farrier training institute will be establishing on this campus.

The academic block comprises of classrooms, fully air conditioned library, seminar room, conference hall and laboratory and Prof Dr Manzoor Clinical Sciences Block comprises of four sections including clinical veterinary medicine, clinical veterinary surgery, theriogenology and post-mortem sections while two new student’s hostels namely Iqbal Hall for boys and Fatima Hall for girls are equipped with all necessary facilities. This project has been completed in two years and cost Rs 1.111 billion.

Addressing the audience, Ahsan Iqbal said that the government is providing state-of-the-art facilities (hardware) to educational institutes and now it is the responsibility of institutional faculty and researchers by using their knowledge and skills to create problem solving software, do applied research for the development of our country. He said KBCMA-CVAS Narowal campus is equipped with the latest education and research facilities and its students/researchers can compete with other high class world famous veterinary education students.

He urged the leadership of Narowal campus to prepare a road map for enhancing poultry, dairy and meat production. He said that it is direly needed to start meat export and fulfill the requirements of international standard for enhancing meat export and boosting national economy. He acknowledged the role of UVAS and KBCMA-CVAS leadership for the development of Narowal campus and urged them to bring this college to world class level. He said that we have to change the thinking of our students from negative politics and hate speech to learning research skills for the national development.

Speaking on the occasion, the Vice-Chancellor said that UVAS has been ranked among 401-600 in World University Rankings in the latest Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2023, getting 2nd position among all public sector universities of the Punjab and 4th position among all public sector universities of Pakistan. He also mentioned that UVAS ranked 4th among public sector universities in the Higher Education Commission national sports ranking. He said that UVAS is focusing on imparting practical knowledge and communication skills to its students. He said that every year UVAS is producing a large number of trained graduates who are serving in livestock, poultry, dairy, food and pharmaceutical industries and playing their lead role in the development of national economy of Pakistan.

Prof Rana Younus highlighted the role of Ahsan Iqbal in the development of Narowal, especially in education sector. He also spoke about the services of Khan Bahadur Ch Mushtaq Ahmad for the uplift of veterinary education. Earlier, Ahsan Iqbal along with Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad visited different areas of CVAS Narowal Campus including library, class rooms, library, seminar rooms, conference hall, student hostels facilities and laboratory, etc.

Haripur, June 22, 2023 (PPI-OT): One-day Training session on Mixed Statistical Methods was organize by QEC today on June 20, 2023. The resource person for this session was Dr. Sohail Akhtar, Associate Professor, Department of Mathematics and Statistics, The University of Haripur. It was a hands-on session specifically on the SPSS, R and R-studio.

Different statistical data was analyse through R and SPSS. A good number of The University of Haripur faculty member and students joined the session and they all are in the opinion to extend these sort of sessions further as well.

Islamabad, June 22, 2023 (PPI-OT): H.E. Dr. Hathal Homoud Alotaibi, President, International Islamic University (IIU) hosted a dinner in honour of University Vice President and Deans. It was attended by all the Vice Presidents and Deans. IIUI President said that team efforts are the solution to challenges and this attribute has been reflected in the recent achievements of IIUI. He said the strategic plan, and in its light academic and structural reforms, have paved the way to put the university on a new track of success.

Addressing on the occasion, H.E. Dr. Hathal Hamoud Alotaibi said a teacher is the builder of society, he is the one who nurtures the ideal citizens who serve the Society. Talking about the progress of the university, he said through our joint efforts and achievements we have established a base for the progress of this institution, now comes the most important stage to build its future and our next face of hard work has commenced. He said the university is passing through its historic era, we have managed all the achievements with the dedication and honest efforts of Vice Presidents, Deans, DGs, teaching community and non-academic officials. He urged that internal issues of the university must not be taken outside rather we must find their solution in university. He maintained that no external interference in the matters of the university shall be allowed and nobody would be allowed to take the internal matters of the institution outside.

The Worthy President also stressed on the administration to address all the issues on priority basis and take the number of any kind of issues to zero. He said that the university management has been a staunch supporter of merit and matters such as promotion are our top priority. He said nobody will face injustice and we will ensure we execute the matter of promotions as per rules and regulations with expeditly. Thanking the government of Saudi Arabia, IIUI President said that a recent financial grant from Saudi Arabia has resulted in economic improvements of the university and it has helped us in managing the financial crisis.

H.E. Dr. Hathal said that facilitation of the students must be a top priority. He also emphasized that faculty must remain updated to the advancements of the technology. He reiterated his resolve that all the efforts shall be made to make IIUI an ideal place of learning for the students. He said this is the age of new media, the students are well aware of the many topics and modern trends, there is a need to nurture them in a way so that they may get exquisite knowledge without negative use of the platforms such as social media.

Hailing the recent improvement in the global university rankings, IIUI President said that despite achievements we have to focus more on academic excellence and we must opt for the latest teaching methods. He opined that the top priority is the preparation of curriculum in all the faculties in the light of contemporary requirements. He maintained that since the task has already been started, its timely completion to have a syllabus compatible to contemporary needs must be ensured. Talking about the advancements in the education sector he said Campus Management System is the first step to digitization and achievement of the goal of an ideal educational institution.

Worthy President opined that through academic excellence and quality research the IIUI will soon be a role model for the rest of the universities. He added that the university’s prime focus is to make its leading place among the top universities in the international rankings. On the occasion, new and innovative ideas and suggestions presented by the participants were appreciated by the President, IIUI. He called for efforts to have further improvements in the regard of academic excellence and quality education.
