The Inventors of Drone Air Ambulance Call On the Vice Chancellor

Khairpur, June 21, 2023 (PPI-OT): Mr. Asif Ali Rind, Ms. Sumaya Bhutto and Ms. Tuhfa-tun-Nisa, Students of Department of Physics and Electronics, Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur and inventors of Drone Air Ambulance called on the Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto at Vice Chancellor Secretariat.

On this occasion, Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto extended felicitation to the students who designed the Drone Air Ambulance. Dr. Ibupoto said it is the prime duty of the Universities to contribute the community at large. It is glaring example that our students are contributing in the research and innovation for community. He said research has three dynamics i.e. lab, pilot project and industrial scale. He advised the students to upgrade this technology on advanced and modern lines. Dr. Ibupoto also extended congratulation to Prof. Dr. Farman Ali Mangi, Chairman Department of Physics and Electronics and teachers of the Department for their positive contribution.

Prof. Dr. Farman Ali Mangi briefed the Vice Chancellor that the Drone Air Ambulance will be helpful for the flood affected people. In the occurrence of flood havoc, the Air ambulance drones can save people’s lives, livestock, monitoring of crops during the flood and heavy rain. Keeping in view this calamity, and disaster, the students of the Department embarked this research work to develop a new innovative model of drone which can be used for several applications, such as the transportation of medicine from one place to another place at least 2-3Kg, monitoring flood affected areas, recording video and footages from impassable, affected areas and identify the flood affected locations? inspection of affected crops? livestock in flood affected areas. Dr. Mangi appreciated the unwavering support and guidance of the Vice Chancellor for organizing Science Expo-2023 as result this innovation has developed.

Meanwhile, the team of Radio Pakistan, Khairpur consisting of Mr. Kaleemullah Shaikh and Mr. Nazeer Ahmed Gilal, Senior Producers also recorded the interview of the Vice Chancellor regarding the creative work of the students of the Department of Physics and Electronics. Prof. Dr. Taj Muhammad Lashari, Dean Faculty of Social Sciences, Dr. Ali Raza Lashari, Mr. Zohaib Shafqat Memon and others were present.

IIUI, BAIT-UL-MAL INK MOU

Islamabad, June 21, 2023 (PPI-OT): International Islamic University (IIU) and Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal have inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for bilateral cooperation under which they will provide financial assistance to needy students of university. The MoU signing ceremony was held here at the new campus of the university in which Dr. Hathal Homoud Alotaibi, President IIU and Mr. Amir Fida Paracha, Managing Director Bait-ul-Mal signed the document.

The Bait-ul-Mal shall provide stipend to the 175 deserving and brilliant undergraduate students and 75 postgraduate students. These students shall be recommended by the university. Both sides will jointly hold national and international days such as Universal children day, International women day, Thalassemia day, World blood day and World Aids Day. Bait-ul-Mal shall also provide internship facilities to the students of IIU. Amir Fida Paracha said on the occasion that Bait ul Mal is keen to provide financial assistance to all the poor without discrimination of cost, creed and race. He said bright students are an asset of the country and they will always remain top priority of Bait ul Mal. He said youth is a key to success and prosperity and we must invest in its education as it will produce best results.

Speaking on the occasion, IIUI President briefed about IIUI’s services, collaborations for free education of needy students and vision of the university. He thanked MD Bait ul Mal for always keeping IIUI students in sight in terms of assistance. He said that the university, through other druthers and possibilities, also keeps striving to assist the poor students. He hoped that this MoU would lead towards a further strengthened pathway between IIUI and Bait ul Mal. H.E. Dr. Hathal also said that he will convey the vision and impressive services of Bait-ul-Mal to the philanthropists across the globe and will also work as a bridge to initiate joint ventures for serving the societies.

The ceremony was also attended by Vice President Administration and Finance, Dr. N.B. Jumani, Vice President Research and Enterprise Dr. Ahmed Shuja Syed, and Director University Advancement and Financial Aid, Ms. Nuzhat Zareen.

SUCL and Shaoor Foundation jointly organized two-day training workshop regarding strategies for peace-keeping in academic environments concludes with practical exercises conducted by all participants

Jamshoro, June 21, 2023 (PPI-OT): Concluding session of the two-day training workshop jointly organized by Sindh University Campus Larkano (SUCL) and Shaoor Foundation under Peace Advocacy and Community Engagement through Transformation (PACT) Project was held today. The session was conducted by SUCL PVC Prof Dr Azhar Ali Shah and was attended by faculty members and administrative staff including Mr Hussain Ali Kunbhar, Mr Abdullah Shaikh, Ms Shagufta Shaikh, Ms Hina Shah, Mr Wazir Ali Tunio, Mr Ali Zaman, Ali Asif Abro, Ms Irum Kalhoro, Mr Jan Muhammad Shah Mr Mansoor Mangi, Mr Azhar Ali Kalhoro, Naeem Shaikh, Saifullah Chandio and others.

All the participants performed practical exercises regarding various strategies for peace-keeping in academic environments including arbitration process, conciliation process, negotiations process and mediation process. In addition to this stress management strategies including proper breathing, embracing the stress, accepting the imperfections, distraction as emotional first aid, expressing gratitude, limiting “grass is greener” thinking, working smarter not harder, asking for help and making connections were also practised during the concluding session. At the end of the session certificates were distributed among all the participants.

The furniture manufacturing unit of IUB is rapidly meeting the furniture requirements of the university

Bahawalpur, June 21, 2023 (PPI-OT): Furniture Manufacturing Unit the Islamia University of Bahawalpur is rapidly fulfilling the furniture requirements of various departments, centers, faculties and campuses. Under the guidance of Vice-Chancellor Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob, a furniture manufacturing unit was established to provide the university with quality and economy furniture and save billions of rupees spent on its purchase. The furniture manufacturing unit has been established in line with the vision of making the university self-sufficient. Director of Furniture Manufacturing Unit Muhammad Bilal Lodhi said in details that 173 chairs have been provided to the Faculty of Chemical and Biological Sciences.

200 chairs have been provided to the newly established Liaquatpur Campus. Considering the office needs of various administrative departments, 80 officers’ desks have been prepared and more than 100 chairs have been repaired. Preparation of furniture for Fatima Women Development Center is in progress. 70 chairs have been provided to the public administrative department, similarly 150 chairs were also provided to the pharmacy department in Khawaja Fareed campus some time ago. He said that manufacturing furniture from usable raw materials in the university is saving valuable capital and at present 4 artisans and 2 helpers are completing this work.

He said that the furniture manufacturing unit is being expanded on the direction of the vice chancellor. Covering and other furniture like cabinets, tables and sofas will also be prepared. He said that soon the furniture manufacturing unit will be able to produce furniture for the local market after meeting the requirements of the university.

PU PSC organizes seminar

Lahore, June 21, 2023 (PPI-OT): Punjab University Pakistan Study Centre (PSC) has organized a seminar on ‘Pakistan and Changing Strategic Environment’. Eminent educationist Prof Dr Rashid Ahmad Khan, Director PSc Prof Dr Naumana Kiran, Associate Professors Dr Ahmad Ejaz and Dr Amjad Abbas Khan Magsi, faculty members and MPhil, PhD scholars were present on the occasion. In his keynote speech Dr Rashid Ahmad Khan shed light on strategic developments that have appeared in the regions of West Asia, Middle East and South Asia. He evaluated China-Iran and Pakistan relations in terms of Chabahar and Gwadar ports.

He also discussed the Saudi Arabia and Iran friendship and its impact on diplomatic manoeuvrings of the Middle East and Gulf region. He said that India and Pakistan should resolve their problems and let the people of the region make progress. It would be highly beneficial for both the countries and the South Asian region, he added. Dr Naumana Kiran said that Pakistan can avail the opportunities in the developing scenarios by bringing political and economic stability, restricting terrorism and enhancing civil-military relations in the country. Dr Ahmad Ejaz elaborated the Chinese move to extend its diplomatic influence in the Middle Eastern region.

He said that the Chinese government declared full support to the Palestine cause. Dr Amjad Abbas Khan Magsi emphasized the solution of regional issues in South Asia using the potential of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and especially China’s role in resolving the Iran-Saudi conflict.
