Haris Rauf joins Spring Gala Closing Ceremony at IIUI as Chief Guest

Islamabad, June 16, 2023 (PPI-OT): The Female Campus of the International Islamic University (IIU) witnessed a spectacular closing ceremony for Spring Gala 2023. The event was attended by the grandeur, renowned national cricketer Mr. Haris Rauf who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

On the occasion, esteemed dignitaries including the President of the university, the Vice President, and the Student Advisor of the Female Campus. Adding to one of the highlights of the evening was the declaration of the Faculty of Social Sciences as the Best Faculty for Sports and Co-Curricular Activities.

The ceremony also featured the distribution of souvenirs and shields among the winners of various sports and co-curricular activities. The recipients were acknowledged for their outstanding performances and contributions in areas such as athletics and co-curricular activities.

Addressing the closing ceremony Haris Rauf congratulated all students for taking part in sports activities and said that such activities are vital for their career building in future. He hoped that students shall bring fame to the nation by participating in sports and academic activities during their stay at the institution and after completing studies.

H.E. Dr. Hathal Hamoud Alotaibi, Worthy President of International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) addressing the closing ceremony said that extracurricular activities are part of the university’s vision as it’s a huge platform to provide maximum opportunities to students during their academic career and all students must take part in such activities.

Dr. Hatahl congratulated and appreciated the combined efforts of all departments at the female campus including Sports Section and Directorate of Students Affairs who made the event for students successful. He added that the university will conduct a program for those students who have achieved academic excellence under the supervision of university administration.

Prof. Dr. Samina, Vice President (Female Campus) said that extracurricular activities are a vital platform for students grooming and character building. Dr. Samina said that the spring gala is one of the major activities celebrated every year at campus where students are provided a huge platform to showcase their talent. She congratulated all the students for participating in these activities and hoped that the university is committed under the visionary leadership of the President IIU to provide maximum shining opportunities to students.

In addition to the university officials, the ceremony was attended by esteemed guests, including the Deans of various faculties, heads of departments, and focal persons. The closing ceremony of the Spring Gala 2023 at IIU’s Female Campus not only celebrated the achievements of the students but also provided a platform to acknowledge the efforts of faculty members and administrators. This momentous event will undoubtedly be remembered as a remarkable milestone in the university’s history, highlighting the importance of holistic education and fostering a culture of excellence among the students.

Dinner reception in honour of media fraternity held

Islamabad, June 16, 2023 (PPI-OT): H.E. Dr. Hathal Hamoud Alotaibi, President, International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) hosted a dinner reception in honour of media fraternity here at Faisal Masjid campus. The attendees included anchor persons, Editors, article writers and veteran media persons. The meet up participants agreed that youth is the real power to bring positive change in the society and educational institutions must focus on producing skilled graduates. The dinner reception participants opined that Pakistani youth, if provided best guidance and education, has potential to change the fate of nation.

H.E. Dr. Hathal Hamoud Alotaibi, President IIUI said on the occasion that education must be the top priority. He said that prime focus of Muslim world must be to produce skilled youth equipped with knowledge of modern market trends. “If a nation has a well-educated and nurtured youth, nothing can bar it to achieve the destination of prosperity and success” said H.E. Dr. Hathal Hamoud Alotaibi. The IIUI President called for the meaningful role of educational institutions urging those to be relevant to the needs of society.

Talking about the university, its new approach and initiatives, H.E. Dr. Hathal said he was proud to serve this university that has a unique distinction across the Muslim world. He apprised of the varsity’s new strategic plan, recent reforms and its academic and infrastructural achievements.

He said at the varsity leadership has achieved the millstones of digitization and initiatives for the online and open distance learning have been launched. He said the university has completed a comprehensive project of Campus Management System as well as in the academic excellence, IIUI has been put on the right track as it is shining in all the leading ranking across the globe. Talking about the infrastructural development he briefed that university has just inaugurated two academic blocks while construction work is in process on the library building and medical block.

Talking about the age of information and social media, he said there is dire need to guide youth to handle these forums in positive manner. He said the students are well updated now a days therefore new and modern teaching techniques are the prerequisites for the academic excellence.

The IIUI President said he has directed all the faculties to have comprehensive deliberation on preparing curriculum according to the contemporary needs that will be implanted to have the constructive results. H.E. Dr. Hathal also spoke on the recent three years’ new journey of university success. He said a united team effort has addressed number of challenges and joint efforts are bringing desired results.

He specially mentioned of the Pakistani youth adding that they have the potential to rise and university is focusing on making them an exquisite asset for society. He also thanked the journalist fraternity for continuous support. He said the gathering in this dinner marks the pursuit of university’s vision to work closely with media to disseminate the IIUI’s objectives of quality education.

Senior journalists hailed services of Dr. Hathal, his vision and IIUI’s role in the society and thanked Excellency Dr. Hathal for the reception and briefing on IIUI’s achievements and goals. The journalists lauded the role of Saudi Arabia in promotion of education. They specially mentioned the vision of Excellency crown prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia Mohammed Bin Salman. They said his vision for the growth and stability is paying results to the region and this approach should be followed by rest of the Muslim countries.

IMF 2023 Youth Fellowship Program (Due Date: 30-Jun-23)

Islamabad, June 16, 2023 (PPI-OT): If you want to create more inclusive growth for youth and share your voice with peers from around the world, apply to the IMF Youth Fellowship Program (YFP)! The IMF Youth Fellowship Program (YFP) provides an opportunity for young leaders between 20 and 35 years of age from across the world to become part of their global effort to build forward better and join the IMF at the forefront of the response to global economic challenges. The IMF YFP is a competitive capacity building program that has attracted more than 9,000 applicants since its launch in August 2020. This year, the IMF is sponsoring selected participants to experience the World Bank-IMF Annual Meetings in Marrakech, Morocco.

IMF YFP is looking for youth fellows who want to contribute to the IMF’s efforts to build more resilient and inclusive growth for all, particularly for young people. As part of the program, the selected youth fellows will attend in-person workshops led by IMF management, senior IMF staff, and external experts. They will also have access to Annual Meetings seminars and events in Marrakech. The IMF will cover travel and related expenses. Selected candidates will have opportunities to meet scholars, activists, leaders, and experts while creating lasting connections with other youth fellows from around the world.

Selected candidates will become part of the IMF Youth Network to connect with previous IMF Youth Fellows and stay informed of future opportunities, events, and publications.

Eligibility Criteria:

A successful applicant should

Be between the ages of 20 and 35 years as of October 15, 2023

Have demonstrated experience in one or more of the following:

Social activism and/or engaging with a civil society organization

Entrepreneurship and/or participating in a start-up

Content creation/influencer and/or contributing to independent platforms

Have knowledge and expertise in international studies, basic economics, and development issues,

particularly on inclusive economic growth, the digital economy, or climate change

Have graduated from or currently be a student in the field of international relations and development,

communications, economics, or related fields

Demonstrate good public speaking and presentation skills

Be a citizen of an IMF member country

Have no current affiliation with government institutions

Not have previously been a fellow of the YFP.

UVAS holds 11th Umrah Draw ceremony

Lahore, June 16, 2023 (PPI-OT): The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore conducted a draw to select three university employees from academic staff, administrative staff and non- teaching staff to perform Umrah. Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Nasim Ahmed chaired the draw ceremony, picked and announced the names of three lucky winners while Registrar Sajjad Hyder, Treasure Muhammad Omar, Director Information Technology Center Mr Rizwan Saleem and a large number of university employees were present on the occasion.

According to the draw results, Prof Dr Iahtasham Khan from Epidemiology Department of Collage of Veterinary Animal Science (CVAS) Jhang Campus, Assistant Mr Tahir Mahmood from Directorate of Advance Studies were selected from Administrative staff among the employees from grade-16 and above while Qasid Mr Sardar Ali also from Directorate of Advance Studies selected from among the employees of grade-1 to 15.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof Nasim Ahmed congratulated the Umrah draw winners. He said UVAS always support such activities to provide opportunities to its employees for performing umrah. Prof Dr Nasim Ahmed expressed deep sorrow and grief over the sad demise of Deputy Director Veterinary Academy Dr Muhammad Ikraam.

The scholarship program covers all expenses, ensuring that scholars can focus on their studies without financial burdens.

Field of Study: School of Engineering (All Fields), School of Humanities and Sciences, School of Earth, Energy, and Environmental Sciences, School of Medicine, Graduate School of Business and School of Medicine Biosciences

Grants: Complete Tuition Fee

A stipend to cover living costs and academic expenses, including room and board, books, academic supplies, instructional materials, local transportation, and reasonable personal expenses. A travel stipend, intended to cover the cost of an economy-class ticket for one annual trip to and from Stanford University. Eligibility: Candidates of any nationality from around the world are welcome to apply for the scholarship.
