The world is facing many challenges including climate change, the only solution to the Ukraine-Russia conflict is diplomacy, and positive thinking will have to be adopted to resolve the conflicts in the region, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari

Karachi, January 20, 2023 (PPI-OT):Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said that the world is facing many challenges including climate change, Pakistan is facing food security and energy problems, the economies of the third world are under pressure at the moment, the increase in gas prices worldwide. It has happened, the Russia-Ukraine war has had an impact on the whole world including the region. Speaking during the dialogue on the topic of security and coordination in the geopolitical situation in Davos on Friday, the foreign minister said that the only solution to the Ukraine-Russia conflict is diplomacy. He said that the effects of the war between Russia and Ukraine have affected the whole world including the region, the world has to cooperate to solve the problems.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari emphasized on improving and restructuring the international financial institutions to remove the concerns of the southern countries of the world. He emphasized that we need to avoid conflicts and there should be a return to the normal procedures of international organizations for solving other problems, including climate change. He said that if the international organizations work according to the contemporary requirements under the framework of the United Nations, the current conflicts that endanger the world can be resolved amicably. The foreign minister while mentioning the problem of Ukraine expressed hope that a way of negotiation and diplomacy will be found for the quick solution of this problem.

It is sad that the UN Security Council resolutions which currently mean a lot to the whole of Europe and the whole of the West, but on the issue of Kashmir, that paper There are nothing more than He said that we hope that this issue will be resolved as soon as possible. We want to see a more active approach from both sides to advance diplomacy in achieving peace. Diplomacy should be given importance. And were willing to negotiate but we did not take this opportunity seriously and had to do the same in 2022.

The foreign minister hoped that the Ukraine conflict would eventually be resolved through dialogue and diplomatic means. The participants of the dialogue said that issues like climate change, energy crisis and poverty are emerging worldwide. He emphasized that Russia and Ukraine must adopt the path of dialogue for the establishment of peace.

All-round captain’s effort by Fraser gets Scotland over the line against USA

Dubai, January 20, 2023 (PPI-OT):A remarkable, all-round performance by Scotland captain, Katherine Fraser, guided her side to a tense, five-wicket win over the United States of America (USA) in the ICC Under19 Women’s T20 World Cup fourth place playoff in Benoni.

This was their first win, in what was their last match of the tournament.

Fraser, who had initially picked up 3/23 as the USA posted a competitive total of 147/7 in their innings, took matters into her own hands when she came in to bat, despite visibly suffering with the intense heat at Willowmoore Park.

Fraser, who rode her luck (she was dropped three times) in a 59-run knock (47 balls) featuring eight fours and a six, left Scotland needing eight off the final over when she was finally caught by a USA side which put down several catches on the day.

Another dropped catch and two wide balls by death bowler Isani Vaghela gave the Scots – who passed 100 for the first time in the competition – the leg up they needed before Molly Paton hit the winning runs with a boundary, two balls from the end.

The USA’s decision to bat first when they won the toss was vindicated by openers Laasaya Mullapudi and Disha Dhingra, who were watchful to begin with but accelerated nicely to set up a first wicket platform of 75 off 63 balls.

Left-hander, Mullapudi, regularly found gaps in her 33-ball 43 (eight fours) while Dhingra was more circumspect, her 30 coming from the same number of balls as Mullapudi’s runs and featuring six fours.

Dhingra’s dismissal in the 11th over ushered in a period where Scotland wrested the momentum as fast bowler Orla Montgomery struck quickly for her two wickets in the match.

A brisk partnership of 25 (15 balls) by skipper Geetika Kodali (22) and Ritu Singh (13) gave the USA just the impetus they needed in the closing stages to get their highest score in the tournament and post a challenging total.

The Scots kept taking their wickets and catches as the USA tried to accelerate, with Fraser picking up all three of her wickets during that time while Darcey Carter’s catching at cow corner was sensational to the tune of three grabs.

Scotland’s reply had a similar, nothing-to-lose narrative about it, and despite losing the dangerous Ailsa Lister with 15 runs on the board to a great recovery catch by Tya Gonsalves, they would recover to keep pace with the USA’s batting for the rest of the innings.

Scores in brief:

Toss: USA, who elected to bat.

USA 147 for 7 in 20 overs (Laasaya Mullapudi 43, Disha Dhingra 30, Katherine Fraser three for 23, Orla Montgomery two for 29)

Scotland 148 for five in 19.4 overs (Katherine Fraser 59, Emma Walsingham 27, Aditiba Chudasama two for 20, Geetika Kodali one for 19)

Scotland won by 5 wickets with two balls remaining.

Indonesia claims historic first victory to end ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup journey on a high

Dubai, January 20, 2023 (PPI-OT):Indonesia might not have won the inaugural ICC Under19 Women’s T20 World Cup, but they have won many hearts during their stay in South Africa. On Friday, in the stifling heat of Benoni, they also made history as they claimed their first ever World Cup victory, besting Zimbabwe in a play-off between countries that finished fourth in their groups.

The celebrations that followed each wicket were matched in ecstasy and energy by the eruption of joy when Ni Made Suarniasih claimed the winning run by three wickets.

Ni Luh Ketut Wesika Ratna Dewi ensured that her name will be remembered, as she picked up five for 18 in a sparkling display on the field for her and the team she has led with aplomb.

In their final match before heading home, they were out to impress. After Zimbabwe elected to bat first, Wesika immediately made them regret it, as she bowled Natasha Mbomba with the very first ball of the match.

She repeated the dose two balls later, removing the other opener for Zimbabwe, Kay Ndiraya, with an identical bit of in-swing bowling. Wesika’s control of her new ball boomerangs has been one of the highlights of the tournament – as have the choreographed celebrations that follow each Indonesian wicket.

They were at it again in Benoni on Friday, dancing and welcoming each wicket with infectious smiles. Zimbabwe were not smiling, however, as they were reduced to 17 for four inside the first five overs.

Indonesia could do little wrong, and the catch that dismissed Kelly Ndiraya confirmed that. She slapped a cut that would have hurtled to the boundary, but it instead went straight to cover-point, where Thersiana Feibrene Catrina Penu Weo snapped it up inches off the ground.

Her delight was Ndiraya’s despair, as Zimbabwe battled to get going. Danielle Meikle did put up a fight, with four boundaries in her knock of 20 from 19 balls. But she was also a victim of the irrepressible Wesika, bowled as she tried to help one to the on-side.

Adel Zimunu (13 from 29 balls) stuck around until she was trapped in front by Ni Kadek Ariani. Zimbabwe eventually had to settle for 86 for eight in their 20 overs.

The chase was not without drama. Indonesia also lost a wicket early, to the second ball of the innings, as Meikle trapped Ni Kadek Ariani in front. Wesika (14), Thersiana Penu Weo (14) and Gusti Ulansari (10) all chipped in, but Zimbabwe stayed in the hunt with regular breakthroughs.

When the sunglasses-clad Chipo Moyo (three for 12) struck twice in the 13th over, Indonesia found themselves at a nervous 62 for six – still 25 runs shy of a monumental victory. It was left to Ni Kadek Dwi Indriyani (9 not out) and Ni Made Suarniasih (12 not out) to guide the ship tentatively home.

And when they got there, no one could begrudge them their unbridled joy.

Scores in brief:

Toss: Zimbabwe, who elected to bat first.

Zimbabwe 86 for eight in 20 overs (Danielle Meikle 20, Tawana Marumani 20, Adel Zimunu 13, Ni Luh Ketut Wesika Ratna Dewi five for 18, Ni Kadek Ariani two for 7)

Indonesia 87 for 7 in 18 overs (Ni Luh Ketut Wesika Ratna Dewi 14, Thersiana Penu Weo 14, Ni Made Suarniasih 12 not out, Kelis Ndhlovu three for 8, Chipo Moyo three for 12)

Indonesia won by three wickets.

HBL PSL 8 schedule announced

Lahore, January 20, 2023 (PPI-OT):Lahore Qalandars will have an opportunity make history when they will take on Multan Sultans in the opening match of the HBL Pakistan Super League 8 at the picturesque Multan Cricket Stadium on Monday, 13 February.

Lahore Qalandars had defeated defending champions Multan Sultans at the Gaddafi Stadium by 42 runs in 2022, and will now have an additional incentive going into the eighth edition of the tournament, with the chance of becoming the first franchise to win back to back titles. Prior to Multan Sultans, Peshawar Zalmi were in the similar situation when they reached the 2018 final as defending champions but faltered at the last hurdle and lost to Islamabad United, who clinched their second title in three years.
Except for Peshawar Zalmi and Multan Sultans, no other side as defending champions have reached the final in the biggest, highly competitive and most grueling league in the cricket playing world.

Karachi, Lahore, Multan and Rawalpindi will share between them the 34-match tournament, and the event schedule has been designed in such a way that the four home sides will each play five matches in front of their fans and supporters – one against each side.

This means Qalandars will play five matches at the Gaddafi Stadium, while their other five matches will be in Multan (one) and, Karachi and Rawalpindi (two each). Similarly, Sultans’ five away matches will be in Rawalpindi (three) and, Karachi and Lahore (one each); Kings’ away matches will be in Rawalpindi (three) and, one each in Lahore and Multan; and United’s five away matches will be in Karachi (three) and, one each in Lahore and Multan.

Quetta Gladiators will play their 10 league matches in Karachi, Rawalpindi (four each), Lahore and Multan (one each), while Peshawar Zalmi’s fixtures will be in Rawalpindi (five), Karachi (three), and one each in Lahore and Multan.

The HBL PSL 8 will be held in two legs with Multan Cricket Stadium and National Bank Cricket Arena splitting matches from 13-26 February before the action shifts to the Gaddafi Stadium and Pindi Cricket Stadium where the matches will be played from 26 February to 19 March. This includes the Qualifier, two Eliminators and the final at the home of Pakistan cricket from 15-19 March.

The soft launch of the Pakistan Women’s League will also take place during the HBL PSL 8 when three exhibition matches will be played in the lead up to the men’s matches in Rawalpindi on 8, 10 and 11 March. The two women’s sides are expected to comprise leading local and foreign players, details of which will be announced in due course.

Chair of PCB Management Committee, Mr Najam Sethi: “I am delighted to formally confirm the schedule of the HBL PSL 8, which will allow the Pakistan Cricket Board and the six franchises to start firming up and finalising their respective event plans and objectives.

“The HBL PSL 8 will be a massive event for the PCB, taking place at the four iconic venues with the world’s best T20 cricketers in action. We aim to make the HBL PSL bigger, better and stronger than ever before with the overarching ambition to make it the first-choice event for leading T20 cricketers.
“Each of the six sides will enter the HBL PSL 8 with lots at stake. Islamabad United will aim to become the most successful team with three titles, Lahore Qalandars will attempt to become the first side to win back to back titles and the remaining four teams will once again attempt to put a hand on the glittering silverware. This makes up for an exciting, enthralling and entertaining 34-match tournament.

“There will be no question on the quality of cricket that will be played in over 34 days of action-packed cricket. I am hoping the HBL PSL will once again live up to its expectations of unearthing and identifying future stars who will not only challenge the established household names in this edition but will go on to represent Pakistan.

“I would like to extend my gratitude to HBL, who have supported this tournament since its inception in 2016 by retaining the title sponsorship rights. I would also like to thank all our other valued commercial partners, broadcasters and franchise owners for their patronage, and hope they will continue to show faith in our pinnacle event and the PCB’s administrative vision, skills and capabilities so that we can collectively work together to enhance the image and profile of Pakistan cricket.

“Finally, I would request the passionate Pakistan cricket fans to back the HBL PSL 8 by turning up in big numbers and showing their appreciation and support for not only their favourite teams and players, but towards all other participants.

“May the best side lift the most prestigious Trophy of the Pakistan cricket calendar at the home of Pakistan cricket on 19 March?”

Meanwhile, on the request of the franchises, the PCB has agreed to increase the number of players per side to 20, allowing each franchise to pick two additional Supplementary players. The Supplementary players will be picked in the Replacement Draft, which will take place on Tuesday, 24 January.
Key notes on the HBL PSL 8 schedule:
