Pakistan Cricket Board Discusses HBL PSL 2024 Success and Plans for 2025 Season


Lahore, In a meeting held on Saturday morning at Gaddafi Stadium, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) along with the franchise owners of the HBL Pakistan Super League, reviewed the successes of the 2024 season and began planning for the 2025 tournament. The discussions highlighted significant growth in viewership and media rights, alongside confirming the proposed schedule adjustments for the next season due to the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.



According to Pakistan Cricket Board, the meeting celebrated several key achievements from the HBL PSL 2024, including a record number of home games for the teams, substantial increases in media and streaming rights revenues, and the largest live audience in the league’s history. The PCB also outlined adjustments for the 2025 season, proposing April 7 to May 20 as the new event window to avoid clashing with the ICC Champions Trophy.



Salman Naseer, PCB Chief Operating Officer, emphasized the productive discussions with franchise owners regarding the new schedule and playoff formats for 2025. He noted the importance of these adjustments for maintaining the league’s competitive edge and engagement with fans.



Ali Naqvi, owner of Islamabad United, expressed gratitude towards the PCB and all stakeholders for their dedication to enhancing the league. He underscored the need for ongoing dialogue to ensure the league’s continued success and alignment with broader strategic goals.



The meeting concluded with commitments from all parties to work closely together to finalize the plans in the upcoming General Council meeting, ensuring the HBL PSL remains a highlight in the international cricket calendar.
