Study Tour of Department of Archaeology

Lahore, December 26, 2022 (PPI-OT):The students of M.Phil batch 20-24 from Department of Archaeology, University of the Punjab under the guidance of Chairman Dr. Muhammad Hameed visited two important yet neglected Sikh Gurdwaras in District Kasur;

Sri Jahari Sahab, village Tergay
Gurdwara in Katloi Kalan on Saturday 24th December, 2022.

The students were briefed on-site with visual clues about the pre-partition Sikh architecture and their extension in the area. In the meantime, while investigating, the students also collected some rare artifacts from the ground and were enabled to understand the local flora and fauna of the area also.

Particular assignments were given to comprehensively study these abandoned and endangered monuments taking their last breaths. The fieldwork and site visits under the umbrella of academia are purposely to digitally document and highlight the significance of the shared heritage.

This also includes mapping, risk assessment, and creating a sense of awareness and ownership by involving locals which we call community or public archaeology, and showing what we hold in legacy. The need of the hour is to protect them with sincere intentions as Gurdwara holds sacred importance for our Sikh brothers also.

Looking forward to it, many more field tours are planned for the coming year to visit the archaeologically important heritage sites starting from the Indus Valley Civilization till the Colonial Period.

Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Parvez Elahi vows to rev up the work of serving the religion

Lahore, December 26, 2022 (PPI-OT):Former MPA Abdul Rashid Bhatti called on Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Parvez Elahi at his office and discussed different matters. Speaking on this occasion, the CM thanked Allah Almighty for serving the people every moment of his life and maintained that the direction of every department has been mended way.

The amount of work done in four months has not been done in the last 10 years, he added. Improving the living standard of the common man is my main concern and opponents no need to concern. The nefarious intentions of the propagandists have failed in the past and will continue to fail in the future, he asserted. The enemy may do anything but regret would be its fate.

Meanwhile, historic legislation has been passed regarding the exaltation of religion and the Finality of Prophethood (PBUH). Allah Almighty has blessed us to serve religion and we will further advance the work of serving the religion of Islam, he concluded. Principal Secretary to CM Muhammad Khan Bhatti was also present.

Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Parvez Elahi chairs 21st meeting of Punjab Mass transit Authority

Lahore, December 26, 2022 (PPI-OT):The 21st meeting of the Punjab Mass transit Authority was held under the chair of Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Parvez Elahi at his office on Monday. MD PMA briefed about the procurement of new buses.

The CM stated that new buses would have separate seats for women, blind and differently-abled commuters who would be provided seats near the bus entrance. Plying environment-friendly hybrid buses would reduce environmental pollution, and smog while passengers would benefit from a cheap and quality transportation system; he said and noted that exclusive bus stops would also be set up for women commuters in Lahore.

The CM ordered to expedite the buses’ procurement process and said that a timeline should be set for the implementation of the decisions. The process should be completed without delay and a report be submitted while deciding necessary issues, he concluded.

President Hong Kong Chamber of Commerce and Vice Chairman BOI in Hong Kong Ch Gulzar Muhammad calls on Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Parvez Elahi

Lahore, December 26, 2022 (PPI-OT):The President of the Hong Kong Chamber of Commerce and Vice Chairman of the Board of Investment in Hong Kong Chaudhry Gulzar Muhammad called on Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Parvez Elahi at his office and discussed matters of mutual interest on Monday. CM Parvez Elahi stated that Punjab has been made the best province in terms of investment in a short period. Barriers to investment have been removed and one window operation facility has been provided for investors.

The process of obtaining NOCs for investment has also been simplified; he said and mentioned that foreign investors are coming to invest in various sectors in Punjab due to the business-friendly initiatives. Hong Kong-based investors should also benefit from investment opportunities as they would be provided with every possible facility in Punjab, he added.

The CM cited that the property transfer fee has been reduced by 100% for the convenience of people. The property transfer fee has been reduced from 2% to 1% across Punjab. He said that Overseas Pakistanis Commission Punjab has been activated to protect the rights of overseas Pakistanis.

Imran Khan gave the right to vote to overseas Pakistanis during his tenure, he said. It is a pity that the PDM-led federal government took away the right to vote from overseas Pakistanis. The incumbent federal government is the killer of the rights of Pakistanis living abroad, the CM stated.

We consider Pakistanis living abroad as ambassadors of the country and would spare no effort to solve their problems; he said and mentioned that the provincial government has increased the annual development program of Punjab by 50 billion rupees in a short time.

The volume of the annual development program has reached from 685 billion rupees to 726 billion rupees. The fruits of development would reach the grassroots, he concluded. Gulzar Muhammad said that CM’s efforts for the convenience of investors are commendable. Parvez Elahi has taken unprecedented steps to invest in a short period. The confidence of the investors has been restored during your time.

Karachi, December 26, 2022 (PPI-OT):Chairman of Pakistan People’s Party and Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said that the democratic tact and philosophy of reconciliation of the martyr Ms. Benazir Bhutto is a workable plan of action for domestic and international political problems and a common heritage of the world.

According to the statement issued by Media Cell Bilawal Hawass, the PPP Chairman paid homage to the daughter of the East, Ms. Benazir Bhutto, in his message on the occasion of the 15th martyrdom day and said that we remember her every day and Get guidance from their thoughts and vision. He said that she was a charismatic leader with an understanding far ahead of her time, which is born in centuries.

Martyr Ms. Benazir Bhutto always taught never to hate and to forgive others. Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that Shaheed Ms. Benazir Bhutto was the architect of democratic struggle in Pakistan as well as the supporter of backward classes and minorities.
