Since Quarter 2, 2021, there has been a 22% decrease in the number of businesses in Pakistan which hold the opinion that the country is heading in the right direction: Gallup Business Confidence Survey Q4 2021

Islamabad, November 19, 2021 (PPI-OT):According to a survey conducted by Gallup and Gilani Pakistan, since Quarter 2, 2021, there has been a 22% decrease in the number of businesses in Pakistan which hold the opinion that the country is heading in the right direction.

A nationally representative sample of businesses across Pakistan was asked the following question, “What is your opinion on the direction of the country? Are we headed in the right direction or wrong direction?” In response to this question, 41% said right direction and 59% said wrong direction.

UVAS holds ‘Annual Mehfil Mushaira’

Lahore, November 19, 2021 (PPI-OT):The Qirtas Art and Literary Society of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore under the supervision of Senior Tutor Office arranged ‘Annual Mehfil Mushaira’ with the theme of ‘Biyad-e-Sarwat Hussain’ at City Campus Lahore.

Poet Wajid Ameer presided over the mushaira while Ghair Alam, Faisal Hashmi, Adnan Mohsin and Fazal Gillani were the chief guest. Many other renowned poets Farah Rizvi, Seemab Zafar, Hammad Niyazi, Nelofer Afzal, Asif Ali Wasiq, Kafeel Rana, Zuhaib Alam, Irfan Waris, Tajammal Kazmi, Zubair Naqvi, Ibrar Hussain, Umair Mushtaq and Qirtaas President Muhammad Danish Raza were present.

Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad presided over the concluding ceremony of the Mushaira and gave away shields to poets and distributed certificates among organizers. Principle Student Affairs Prof Dr Kamran Ashraf, Senior Tutor Prof Dr Ali Raza Awan and a large number of students from different departments of UVAS were present on the occasion.

Bahrain Parliamentary delegation visits Faisal Masjid

Islamabad, November 19, 2021 (PPI-OT):A high-level delegation of the council of representatives (parliament) of Kingdom of Bahrain led by MS. Fawzia Bint Abdulla Zainal, Speaker of the Parliament visited Faisal Masjid. The delegation was received by Dr. Muhammad Ilyas, Director General, Dawah Academy, International Islamic University along with Provost (female campus) Dr. Humaira Ishfaq, Students Advisor (female Campus) Dr. Sumayya Chughtai and Incharge, Islamic Centre of Faisal Masjid, Dr. Zia Ur Rahman.

The delegation was briefed about the history of Faisal Masjid, its architecture, its historic importance in Pak-Saudi ties and activities under Dawah Academy such as Quran and Daroos classes. Members of the delegation took keen interest in design and history of the Masjid. On the occasion, Dr. Muhammad Ilyas also briefed the delegation about vision, scope and activities of Dawah Academy of International Islamic University (IIUI).

Department of English Organized a Seminar on “Life Narratives”

Islamabad, November 19, 2021 (PPI-OT):Department of English organized its first Professional Development Seminar on November 17th, 2021. Ms. Ayesha Zahoor, Senior Lecturer Department of English served the occasion as a guest speaker. Ms. Ayesha Zahoor is a PhD scholar at NUML, Islamabad campus and has a good teaching experience.

The seminar was organized for the purpose to enlighten the participants, faculty members, with the different concepts and approaches related to different genres in literature. She highlighted the importance of “Life Narratives” as an emerging genre and briefly discussed the related literature. In contemporary times, Life Narratives has garnered a lot of theoretical attention from diverse and neighbouring domain of studies. The session, lasted for an hour and a half, followed by scholastic discussion from participants’ end in questions/answers mode.

Friesland Campina Netherland delegation paid visits at UVAS

Lahore, November 19, 2021 (PPI-OT):A Friesland Campina Netherland team led by Corporate Director Dairy Development Mr Jeroen Elfers paid a visit to the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore and called on Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad on Friday.

The delegation also held a meeting with senior faculty members and discussed dairy sector development of Pakistan. Prof Nasim chaired the meeting and discussed various collaborations between UVAS and Friesland Campina and sought technical input from experts for the uplift of dairy sector. Prof Dr Aftab Anjum, Prof Dr Rizwan Yousaf, Dr Muhammad Junaid and officials Ms Vorst, Y. van der (Yvonne), Mr. Muhammad Sohail Sarwar Ch and Dr Sarfraz Ahmad from Friesland Campina Engro attended the meeting.

Earlier, the Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad briefed the delegation on UVAS history, academic, research and development projects, national and international collaborations for the development of dairy sector, industry linkages and dairy farmers’ capacity building trainings. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Elfers said that willing to collaborate with UVAS in dairy processing and feed production to strengthen dairy sector. He also lauded Pakistani northern areas and especially hospitality of Pakistani people for tourist.

During an open discussion, the meeting participants put forward various suggestions for collaboration between UVAS and Friesland Campina. Both the parties are already working very closely for the last two decades especially in the different research projects, diagnostics and commercial dairy farming. Prof Dr Aftab Anjum spoke about milk adulteration kit developed by UVAS, Prof Dr Rizwan Yousaf spoke about the UVAS reproductive ultrasonography technique for dairy animals, Dr Muhammad Junaid gave a presentation on a recent project regarding milk value chain and consumer awareness while Dr Sanaullah Iqbal spoke about school milk programme. Later Mr Elfers visited various departments of UVAS Ravi Campus including Holstein Farm, Milk Plant and Central Laboratory Complex where the heads of the departments briefed them.
