Karachi, August 02, 2023 (PPI-OT): Recep Tayyip Erdogan Hospital (RTEH) in Muzaffargarh commemorated World Hepatitis Day on July 28th with an informative Hepatitis Awareness Walk and session. The day is observed each year to raise awareness about viral hepatitis, its prevention, and the importance of early diagnosis and treatment. This year’s theme, “One Life, One Liver,” emphasized the need to protect and take care of our liver, which plays a crucial role in maintaining overall health.

Opening the session, Dr. Mubashir Khan provided an in-depth overview of hepatitis, its types, causes, and risk factors, highlighting the importance of early detection and discussing the advancements in medical treatments that resulted in improved patient prognosis. He also touched upon the role of vaccination in preventing hepatitis and the importance of regular screenings. Nazia Khaliq, infection control nurse, addressed the audience, emphasizing the significance of prevention strategies and lifestyle modifications that can reduce the risk of contracting hepatitis. She focused on creating awareness about the modes of transmission and the need to practice safe hygiene practices and avoid risky behaviors to reduce the risk of contracting hepatitis.

While addressing the hepatitis awareness session, Waqar Ahmad, Head of Operations, RTEH, emphasized the significance of maintaining cleanliness, adopting a balanced diet, and practicing other preventive measures to safeguard our society from diseases. By incorporating these habits into our daily lives, we can protect ourselves and others from illnesses effectively. Furthermore, Mr. Ahmad highlighted the Government of Punjab and Indus Hospital’s joint efforts to provide free screening facilities for eradicating hepatitis in the province.
