Karachi, The West Indies women’s cricket team is scheduled to tour Pakistan in April for an eight-match white-ball series, including three One Day Internationals (ODIs) and five Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is), all to be held at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi. The ODIs, which are part of the ICC Women’s Championship 2022-25, will take place on April 18, 21, and 23, followed by the T20Is from April 26 to May 3.
According to Pakistan Cricket Board, this series marks the West Indies women’s second visit to Pakistan since November 2021 and represents Pakistan’s final home series in the current ICC Women’s Championship cycle. With Pakistan currently holding the third position and West Indies at ninth in the ICC Women’s Championship standings, the series is poised to have significant implications for both teams’ rankings and World Cup qualification prospects.
Tania Mallick, Head of Women’s Cricket at PCB, emphasized the importance of the series for promoting women’s cricket and fostering international relationships. The PCB aims to secure maximum points from the championship matches to bolster Pakistan’s direct qualification chances for the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup. Furthermore, the T20I series will serve as a crucial preparatory phase for the selectors to finalize the squad for the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup later this year.
The series schedule is tightly packed, with the ODIs starting in the late afternoon and the T20Is in the evening, underlining the PCB’s commitment to providing ample competitive opportunities for the teams ahead of significant global tournaments.
