Lahore, The Virtual University of Pakistan, in collaboration with the British Council, hosted a significant National Conference on STEM Education at COMSTECH, Islamabad. The event, which took place on May 15th and 16th, aimed to enhance and celebrate innovations in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics education throughout Pakistan.
According to Virtual University of Pakistan, the conference attracted numerous scholars and notable figures, including Dr. Naveed A. Malik, the former rector of Virtual University, and Dr. Shahid Baig, the former chairperson of the Pakistan Science Foundation, who attended as the guest of honor and chief guest respectively. Prof. Dr. Mehmood Ul Hasan, former Vice-Chancellor of AIOU, delivered the keynote speech, which was highly anticipated. Prof. Dr. Arshad Saleem, the current rector, praised Dr. Faisal Tehseen Shah and the Department of Education for their pivotal roles in organizing this collaborative effort.
The event featured 45 research presentations that covered various aspects of STEM education, demonstrating the latest research and developments in the field. The conference also included competitive segments such as Best Paper, Best Poster, and an All Pakistan Competition, highlighting the ingenuity and talent of participants. The winners of these competitions received cash prizes, with the Best Poster competition awarding Rs. 20,000, Rs. 15,000, and Rs. 10,000 for the top three submissions respectively.
The conference concluded with the distribution of souvenirs, marking a successful partnership between Virtual University and the British Council in fostering advancements in STEM education across Pakistan.
