Virtual University and British Council Host International STEM Education Conference in Islamabad

Lahore, The Virtual University of Pakistan, in collaboration with the British Council, held a two-day International Conference on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) Education at COMSTECH in Islamabad on May 15th and 16th. The conference aimed to foster innovation and excellence in STEM education across Pakistan, attracting key figures and showcasing new research in the field.

According to Virtual University of Pakistan, the event was marked by the presence of distinguished guests including Dr. Naveed A. Malik, the former Rector of Virtual University as the Guest of Honour, and Dr. Shahid Baig, the former Chairperson of the Pakistan Science Foundation, who served as Chief Guest. Prof. Dr. Mehmood Ul Hasan, former Vice-Chancellor of AIOU, delivered the keynote address, highlighting the critical role of STEM education in national development.

The conference featured the presentation of 45 research papers on various aspects of STEM education and included competitive events like Best Paper and Best Poster competitions. These contests provided a platform for educators and students to present their innovative work in STEM fields, with cash prizes awarded to the winners of the poster competition.

The closing ceremony included the distribution of souvenirs to guests and participants, celebrating the successful partnership between the Virtual University and the British Council in promoting STEM education initiatives. This conference underscored Pakistan’s dedication to enhancing a culture of innovation and academic rigor within the STEM disciplines.
