Vice Chancellor Visits Punjab University’s Centre for High Energy Physics

Lahore, The Vice Chancellor of the University of the Punjab, Prof. Dr. Khalid Mahmood, recently visited the Centre for High Energy Physics (CHEP). He was warmly welcomed by Prof. Dr. Rashid Ahmed, Director of CHEP, along with other senior faculty members at the centre.

According to University of the Punjab, during his visit, Prof. Dr. Khalid Mahmood participated in the “One Student One Tree” campaign by planting a sapling in the centre’s lawn, underscoring the university’s commitment to environmental sustainability. The students at the Centre for High Energy Physics also actively participated in the campaign, reflecting their dedication to environmental conservation.

A key event during the visit was the inauguration of the NRPU Lab at CHEP, which the Vice Chancellor inaugurated. He expressed his appreciation for Prof. Dr. Rashid Ahmed’s efforts in securing the NRPU and his commitment to advancing research initiatives at the centre. The inauguration was followed by a cake-cutting ceremony to celebrate academic achievements and research advancements.

The Vice Chancellor also presided over a meeting with the faculty members, where they discussed topics related to high energy physics, the launch of new degree programs, and enhancing the quality of education and research at CHEP.

The visit concluded on a positive note, reaffirming the University of the Punjab’s commitment to excellence in research, education, and environmental stewardship.
