Turbat, The University of Turbat (UoT) recently held its 15th Academic Council meeting, focusing on a range of academic matters and making pivotal decisions to enhance the standard of education at the university and its affiliated colleges.
According to University of Turbat, the meeting was chaired by UoT’s Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Jan Muhammad on December 12, 2023, in the university’s video conference room. In his welcome note, the Vice-Chancellor expressed gratitude to all council members for their active participation and underscored the council’s crucial role in promoting quality education. He stressed the importance of utilizing all available resources to elevate the university to new heights of academic excellence.
The Academic Council deliberated on various agenda items, including the adoption of the Higher Education Commission’s (HEC) Graduate Education Policy 2023 and the revision of Graduate Rules. The meeting also discussed the Ethical Institutional Review Board, the adoption of HEC’s Revised Anti-Plagiarism Policy, and the HEC Undergraduate Policy 2023. Additionally, the council resolved to form a Board of Faculty for the Faculty of Social Sciences, establish a Mission/Vision and Strategic Plan 2024-28 for the Management Sciences Department, reinstate Special Exams for Mid-term Examinations, initiate AD Zoology and BS Education Programs, and finalize the Annual Academic Calendar for 2024.
Key attendees of the meeting included Dr. Mansoor Ahmed, UoT’s Pro Vice-Chancellor; Prof. Dr. Abdul Saboor Baloch, Dean of the Faculty of Literature and Languages; Prof. Dr. Gul Hasan, Dean of Law Faculty; Dr. Haneef Ur Rehman, Dean of the Faculty of Science, Engineering, and IT; Dr. Waseem Barkat, Dean of the Faculty of Business and Economics; Dr. Adeel Ahmed, Dean of Academics; Dr. Abdul Majid Nasir, Controller of Examinations; Ganguzar Baloch, Registrar; and Dr. Riaz Ahmed, Director of the Quality Enhancement Cell of UoT. Representatives from the Government of Balochistan’s Secretary for Colleges and Higher Education and the Higher Education Commission also attended the meeting via video link.
