Jamshoro, The University of Sindh, Jamshoro, recently conducted pre-entry tests for its MPhil and PhD programs, attracting participation from 918 candidates across 34 MPhil and 28 PhD departments for the academic year 2024.
According to University of Sindh, the tests, managed by the Sindh University Testing Center, were held to international standards, surpassing previous benchmarks set by the National Testing Service (NTS). Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Muhammad Siddique Kalhoro, along with a delegation of university officials, visited the examination centers to oversee the process and interact with candidates.
During the visit, Vice Chancellor Dr. Kalhoro highlighted the rigorous academic standards upheld during the testing process. Separate multiple-choice question (MCQ) papers were prepared for each of the 62 disciplines. The University emphasized its commitment to maintaining high testing standards, with Dr. Kalhoro asserting that the university’s testing center has now exceeded the quality of tests previously administered by external bodies like NTS.
The examination included candidates from a wide array of academic fields. Tests were conducted for advanced degrees in areas such as Data Science, Electronics, Software Engineering, Telecommunication Engineering, English, Sindhi, Business Administration, Commerce, Pharmacy, Botany, and Zoology, among others.
Dr. Aftab Chandio, Director of the Sindh University Testing Center, detailed the test structure, noting that it comprised 50% subject-related questions, 20% general English, 15% qualitative reasoning, and 15% analytical reasoning. He mentioned that the tests began at 10:35 am and lasted for 100 minutes, with the passing score set at 50% for MPhil admissions and 60% for PhD admissions. The results were announced the following day.
