Sindh University Hosts Seminar on Government Data and Statistics

Jamshoro, The Department of Statistics at the University of Sindh organized a seminar titled “The Importance of Government Data and Statistics,” which highlighted the critical role of statistical data in government planning and development. The event featured a lecture by Dr. Ishaq Ansari, Director General of the Sindh Bureau of Statistics.

According to University of Sindh, Dr. Ansari, a former student of the department, shared insights into the organizational structure and operations of the Sindh Bureau of Statistics, including data collection methods and the use of both hard and software in processing data. He also discussed the bureau’s role in conducting surveys and the potential career opportunities available to students in the field of statistics.

The seminar also emphasized the relevance of statistical expertise in today’s data-driven world. Dean of the Natural Sciences Faculty, Professor Dr. Agha Asad Noor Pathan, and Chairman of the Department of Statistics, Professor Dr. Naeem Ahmad Qureshi, spoke about the growing importance of statisticians in various sectors. The event concluded with Dr. Ansari and other guests receiving tokens of appreciation for their contributions.
