Shan Masood Elevated to Category B in PCB Central Contract

Lahore, The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the elevation of Test captain Shan Masood’s central contract from Category D to Category B. This decision aligns with PCB’s policy of upgrading the contract of any centrally contracted player, who is not in Categories A or B, to Category B upon being appointed as captain.

According to Pakistan Cricket Board, 34-year-old Shan Masood, who was appointed as the Test captain on November 15, 2023, will hold the position until the conclusion of the ICC World Test Championship 2023-25 cycle. Shan, a left-handed batter, has made significant contributions in his cricketing career, playing in 30 Tests and scoring 1,597 runs.

Shan Masood’s first challenge as the Test captain will be leading Pakistan in the forthcoming three-match series against Australia. The series is set to commence on December 14, 2023, with the first Test scheduled in Perth. The series will proceed with the second Test in Melbourne from December 26 to 30, 2023, and conclude with the third Test in Sydney from January 3 to 7, 2024.

The PCB’s decision to promote Shan Masood reflects its commitment to recognizing and rewarding players for their contributions and leadership roles within the national team. The upcoming series against Australia marks a significant milestone for Shan Masood as he embarks on his journey as the Test captain of Pakistan.
