Secretary General of Jamaat-e-Islami Condemns Arrests and Violence Against Farmers’ March Participants

Lahore, Amid rising tensions, Ameerul Azim, Secretary General of Jamaat-e-Islami, has vehemently condemned the recent arrests of participants in the Haq Du Kisan March and the subsequent police violence. He described the government’s tactics as shameful and counterproductive to quelling the ongoing farmers’ movement.

According to Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan, Azim’s remarks came after a wave of detentions aimed at suppressing the farmers’ protest in Lahore. Leaders and supporters from various districts were detained in an effort to prevent their participation in a significant march on Mall Road, highlighting the intensifying struggle between agricultural advocates and state authorities.

The arrests included prominent figures such as Jam Huzoor Bakhsh, Chairman of the Kisan Board Pakistan, and various vice presidents and members of regional Kisan Boards. Despite these measures, a substantial number of farmers managed to gather and proceed with the march, signaling resilience and determination among the farming community to push forward their demands.
