Lahore, Off-spinner Rameen Shamim will lead the Pakistan Women ‘A’ team in the forthcoming three-match One-Day series against West Indies Women A, according to a press release from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). The matches, scheduled between 24 to 29 October 2023, will be hosted at Lahore’s renowned Gaddafi Stadium and Ghani Institute for Cricket.
The squad’s selection followed a comprehensive review of the players’ performances during the 28 probables camp at the Lahore Country Club in Muridke. Following the one-day series, a tri-nation T20 series will ensue, which includes West Indies Women A, Thailand women’s emerging team, and the host team. Rosters for the T20 tri-series and the subsequent T20s against the Thailand women’s emerging team are yet to be disclosed.
Rameen, with three ODIs and four T20Is under her belt, isn’t a novice to the captaincy role. She previously helmed Pakistan Women A during their 2021 tour of West Indies. Other squad members with international experience include Gull Feroza, Omaima Sohail, Shawaal Zulfiqar, Sidra Nawaz, and Tuba Hassan.

Chief Selector Saleem Jaffar commented on the selection, emphasizing the diversity of the squad that includes players from the ICC Women’s U19 T20 World Cup, the ACC Women’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup, and some who have recently played for the national team. He expressed optimism for the team’s performance against the touring West Indies A side.
The press release also provided a detailed schedule for the upcoming matches, highlighting a packed calendar that culminates with a T20 against Thailand A on 11 November at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
