Prof. Talat Pasha Begins Role as 6th Emeritus Professor at UVAS, Lahore

LAHORE, Prof. Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha took on his new role as the 6th Emeritus Professor at the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) in Lahore on Wednesday. His appointment brings high hopes for furthering advancements in animal nutrition, veterinary education, and the livestock sector.

According to University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Nasim Ahmed warmly received Prof. Pasha back into the UVAS fold. He emphasized the invaluable opportunity junior faculty members now have to benefit from Prof. Pasha’s expertise. Having dedicated 45 years to UVAS, the Education University, and the livestock sector, Prof. Pasha’s insights are seen as pivotal for enhancing animal nutrition, poultry, dairy, meat, and feeding initiatives. Dr. Ahmed trusts that Prof. Pasha will greatly assist both policy makers and field professionals in addressing these areas.

During the announcement, Prof. Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha expressed his gratitude at the opportunity to serve his alma mater once again. He stressed the importance of the institution’s role in ensuring the livelihood of the livestock farming community and emphasized the significance of food safety and security. Highlighting the ample opportunities in the field of animal nutrition, he noted the presence of seasoned foreign PhD faculty members within UVAS’s Department of Animal Nutrition.

The Dean of the Faculty of Animal Production and Technology celebrated Prof. Pasha’s return, acknowledging the honour his presence brings to the Department of Animal Nutrition. Registrar Sajjad Hyder underscored the urgent need for prominent scientists to propel technology advancements, expressing confidence that Dr. Pasha’s joining will significantly elevate veterinary education and research at UVAS.

Previously, Prof. Pasha concluded a successful term as Vice-Chancellor at the University of Education. His leadership at UVAS from 2011 to 2019 over two terms facilitated robust engagements with various industries, including poultry, dairy, food, meat, and livestock. He also championed community services and was instrumental in crafting policy frameworks for the Punjab Livestock Department. Recognized for his exceptional contributions, Prof. Pasha was honoured with the Sitara-e-Imtiaz civil award in 2016 and the “Hilal-i-Imtiaz” in 2023 by the President of Pakistan.
