Lahore, In a significant move, the Private Nursing Colleges Federation, led by its president Adnan Pal, has announced an impending closure of all private nursing colleges across Punjab. This decision comes in response to a new policy introduced by the Health Department, which has been met with widespread disapproval within the educational sector.
According to Indus Hospital and Health Network, an emergency meeting was convened by Adnan Pal to address the concerns of the federation members. The meeting saw the participation of representatives from various nursing colleges across the region, including notable figures such as General Secretary Mahmood Sadiq Dhotar, and Dr. Sania Kheda. The assembly voiced a unanimous sentiment that the Health Department’s policy is detrimental and unacceptable, signaling a direct threat to the continuity of their operations and educational activities.
The federation articulated that the policy unfairly labels educational institutions as commercial entities and fails to safeguard their dignity. This has sparked outrage among stakeholders who foresee a significant impact on the students’ educational pursuits. With around 40,000 students at risk of having their education disrupted, the federation warned of potential mass protests if the policy remains unchanged.
The gravity of the situation is underscored by the federation’s plea for immediate governmental intervention to reconsider and retract the controversial policy. The looming shutdown and the prospect of protests highlight the urgent need for a dialogue between the nursing colleges and the Health Department to find a viable solution that prioritizes the welfare and future of the students.
