Islamabad, President Asif Ali Zardari has called for a significant enhancement of trade and investment ties with the United States, emphasizing the need for American enterprises to invest in the Pakistan Stock Exchange and to bring innovative business ideas to Pakistan. This call was made during a meeting with the Ambassador of the United States of America to Pakistan, Mr. Donald Blome, at Aiwan-e-Sadr.
According to Pakistan Peoples Party, the meeting underscored the long-standing and comprehensive relationship between Pakistan and the USA, which spans over seventy years and is poised for further strengthening. President Zardari expressed that putting Pakistan’s economy on a sustainable path and addressing economic and security challenges are of utmost priority for his administration. He also pointed out the global challenge of climate change, noting Pakistan’s vulnerability and the country’s intent to improve its agricultural sector through the adoption of modern irrigation techniques.
Ambassador Donald Blome responded positively, outlining areas where Pakistan and the USA could bolster their bilateral collaboration, including trade and investment, climate change, renewable energy, agriculture, and security. He also highlighted the successful completion of the Sindh Basic Education Program by the USA, aimed at building climate-resilient schools to fortify Pakistan’s education sector. Furthermore, Ambassador Blome congratulated President Zardari on his assumption of office for a second term, signaling a continuity in the strengthening of bilateral relations between the two nations.
