President Zardari Seeks to Enhance Pakistan-UAE Relations Across Multiple Sectors

Islamabad, In a significant move to bolster bilateral relations, President Asif Ali Zardari has highlighted the importance of enhancing ties between Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) across various sectors including trade, economy, aviation, renewable energy, climate change, and human resource development. This initiative aims at mutual benefits and strengthening the brotherhood between the two nations.

According to Pakistan Peoples Party, the President expressed these sentiments in a meeting with the UAE Ambassador to Pakistan, Mr. Hamad Obaid Ibrahim Salem Al-Zaabi, at Aiwan-e-Sadr. The discussion focused on increasing collaboration in the aviation sector to benefit the Pakistani diaspora in the UAE, inviting Emirati investments in the Pakistan Stock Exchange, and cooperating in agriculture to address food security concerns exacerbated by climate change.

President Zardari also mentioned ongoing efforts in Sindh for environmental conservation through mangrove forest investments and the trade of carbon credits on the international market. He emphasized the need for shared technological advancements in agriculture to improve productivity and sustainability.

The UAE Ambassador reassured the commitment of the UAE to Pakistan’s development and expressed a desire to elevate the countries’ relationship to a strategic partnership. He highlighted UAE’s interest in investing in various Pakistani sectors and mentioned the UAE’s recent $100 million pledge to the “loss & damage” fund for climate-vulnerable countries, from which Pakistan could benefit.

The meeting concluded with President Zardari expressing gratitude for the UAE’s leadership and people’s warmth towards Pakistan and accepting an invitation to visit the UAE, signaling a promising future for bilateral relations between the two nations.
